Today President Bush welcomed the 2005 NCAA National Champion University of Texas Longhorns football team to the South Lawn at the White House, where he congratulated the team and coaches with great humor and warmth.........and a lot of Texas pride! Later in the day, he welcomed members of the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation in the Oval Office of the White House. The council, created by the USA Freedom Corps in 2003, promotes volunteerism and recognizes Americans who serve our communities and the world.

First Lady, Laura Bush visited the Giant Pandas at the National Zoo.

Today the news was released that Mr. Harry Whittington, who was accidentally hit with birdshot in a hunting accident with Vice President Cheney, had had a very mild, asymptomatic heart attack. He is being carefully watched and being treated conservatively, and is expected to fully recover. We need to keep Mr Whittington and Vice President Cheney in our prayers. The media are in a feeding frenzy, and are completely out of control.

The anger and hatred is blinding them. It's like the term "seeing red". It's like they have a haze of such bitter hatred that they cannot see what they are becoming. And some of the anger and hatred is pure evil - maybe just people so filled with it that they are open to more and more and more until it overwhelms them.

Hello, Everyone! This is my first stop for emotional refreshment after all the chattering haters polluting the airwaves. Instead of my other refuge, HGTV, there's another good show tonight....the Westminster Kennel Club show w/gorgeous dogs.

Thanks for this thread more than anyone knows! I absolutely loved the President's press conference today w/the Longhorns. Boy, are they BIG! And I was mightily impressed that the majority of them were also good scholars. My husband always said that it took brains to play football well.
