We have great numbers of these birds in Canada, especially out west. It's good to hear this beautiful animal is doing so well.

It is!

In the summer, I spend some time along the river bluffs of the Mississippi River just south of the Twin Cities.

There is nothing more relaxing and beautiful to watch a bald eagle circle back and forth, riding the air currents.

There's a pair that's taken to wintering close by. They're particularly enchanting when they just stand there ripping parts of dead fish out of the ice.

We've got a mating pair all the way down here in Pascagoula, Ms. I watched one try to pluck a duck out of the river. The duck dove deep, very deep!

They're tasty birds. Like a cross between California Condor and Spotted Owl.

Now there's room on the list for Islamic terrorists. Let's make them endangered.

God bless the troops who are doing their best to make it happen.

it turns out that there were more bald eagles than they had realized as many of them were doing the comb-over thing....

I saw a bald eagle near Myakka Park (near Sarasota, FL) in 1988. Saw a bald eagle flying over Conneaut Lake, PA, in 1995. Those are the only two I have ever seen.

I have seen a lot of osprey. They look a lot like a bald eagle, but are smaller and have a black band going through the eye area.

I'm glad to hear that they have made a good comeback.

There is a nesting pair with a third adult that has made its home on a stretch of the Llano River in the Hill country of Texas. It has become quite a tourist stop. I hope they at least keep these birds on a protected list.
