Rep. Darrell Issa (R) is calling on California conservatives to unite behind embattled Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) as the congressman lays the groundwork, Republicans say, for a future statewide race of his own.
In a letter sent earlier this month to party activists, Issa asks Republicans not to violate Ronald Reagans 11th Commandment, forbidding Republicans from attacking Republicans. And he voices strong opposition to efforts to rescind the state partys endorsement of Schwarzenegger at its Feb. 26 convention in San Jose.

So they don't suggest protest votes that get Democrats elected either? Big surprise, isn't it?
Uh,, Darrell, you do know the Reagan rule only applies to Republicans, not Trojan horses with lefty leanings..
The Gub is nothing more than a democRat with a girlieman dress on, it's really amazing how some folks eat his act up. oh well, that's Hollywood. ;-)
Nah, not everyone. There are still conservatives in CA, NormsRevenge, some of us are still here (you included).
I think real conservatives have woken up and smelled the coffee -- note even previously uncomprimising McClintock did the numbers and realized, that "united with stand, divided we fall -- to the Democrats.
I hope all the smart people will make sure to indeed have a unified convention, to give Arnold and other Republican candidates a springboard for winning in November.
Sure, as long as one's definition of a conservative is one who opposes all real conservatives and tries to get leftist Dems elected.
Don't worry, pookie, no one will ever accuse you of being a Conservative. ;-)
Who cares what Issa thinks?
I'm heartened to see that Jim Gilchrist may run against Arnold in the primary. I'd love to see this. I would vote for him and probably work for him, even though -- no, because -- I'm a loyal and active Republican.

How about the CA Republican Assembly?
Dang! How do you get orange juice out of a keyboard?
Gillham added that Issas move is reminiscent of the defense by former Rep. Jim Rogan (R) of Gov. Pete Wilson (R) during Wilsons 1994 reelection campaign. While Rogan was widely admired on the right, Wilson was often viewed as a centrist and untrustworthy to conservatives.
Issa... Long on ambition, short on principle.
Will he cry and make up stories about non-existent phone calls again?
Yes, I care what McClintock thinks, though I don't agree with him in this case.
As for the CRA, their heart is in the right place, but they're basically a toothless tiger, frankly.
One thing is certain. Issa has little understanding of the 11th Commandment. Either its author or its original intent.
Issa is either ignorant, duplicitous or expedient. Take your choice. In fact, all three may apply.
Please expand. Thanks.
Founder of the Minutemen. If Gilchrist runs, he'll give true immigration reformers, who are the large majority of Republican voters, a chance to register their dissatisfaction with Arnold and the immigration status quo.
I love it!!! Please, please, please tell me it's true... please, please, please...

"CA: GOP Conservatives Reconsider Effort ..."
Toward the bottom of the story. Conservative leader Mike Spence as quoted as saying this is a possibility.
We can only hope.
Sorry, my mistake. It's in this story, the Issa story.
