The incident itself wasn't that traumatic until Cheney's dog tried to retrieve Whittington.~/sarc off.

For some reason, the Tom Lehrer hunting song keeps popping up:
"... the Law was very firm it, took away my PERMIT's the worst punishment I ever endured....."

Alexander Hamilton was this nation's greatest founding father. Period.

Must confess I am not up-to-speed on Hamilton's politics.
Just learned about the duel in parochial school when I was a youngster...like everyone else back in the 50's

Most of what you hear on Hamilton is the result of a concerted smear campaign on the part of Jefforson (the nation's first liberal) and his followers.

I strongly recommend you read Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow. This guy who was shot is the principal reason why the U.S. is a nation we are proud to call home.
Its a long read but I assure you, that the experience will be an incredible one.

I strongly recommend you read Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow. Excellent book. Highly entertaining as biographies go.

I like this retort: "The guy Cheney shot was one of his friends. Guess what he has in store for you?"
To: Deguello
It's a good thing he only wounded him cause it would be hell skinning and cleaning him! :0)

There was a C-Span book program that addressed 3 different books on Hamilton which came out a few years ago . . . probably the 200th anniversary of Hamilton's death. They made the point that the US as we know it is less a Jeffersonian Democracy than a Hamiltonian Republic. His commercial vision was for America as we know it.

This incident will probably be turned into a major Hollywood blockbuster theatrical release before the 9/11 movie comes out.

The last time my husband went dove hunting with a bunch of guys he got pelted. No big deal.

So can I assume that Sarah Brady has repossessed that high-powered hunting rifle that she straw-purchased for her son a couple of years ago?
I didn't think so.

According to the Hunter Incident Clearinghouse (http://www.ihea.com/documents/2004_report.pdf) there were 60 instances of folks injured in 2004 by hunters "swinging on targets". Only about 10% of these incidents get reported. None of them ended up in the news.

I heard on Howie Carr's show that a store in Maine will market t-shirts that read "I'd rather go hunting with Dick Cheney, than ride in a car with Ted Kennedy".

Well, about a zillion people went to the hospital last year because they felt a tightness in their chest, but Cheney was probably the only one who made the news for that.
To: BallyBill
I can't wait until the victim here comes out and says it was his own fault. The cover up conspiracy talk will go into hyper meltdown insanity.I heard on the news that Mr. Whittington is joking about it with the nurses in the hospital.
