That would cause them to pass out. Who would want them anyway? A gun would scare them to death. I remember reading something about liberals and guns in a William W. Johnstone book. Ben Raines said they hate guns, the military because of the discipline it takes to be a soldier. I will try to find the book but I think it was in D-Day in the Ashes.
Are there any Ben Raines fans out there?

Gunny, did you have a relative in the Navy during the '70's? I think you've misunderstood my attempt at sarcastic humor. The "PT" quote was delivered by the character "Gunnery Sergent Hartman" to the character "Private Pyle" in the film "Full Metal Jacket".
and no,I didn't have any relatives in the Navy during the 70's.

What do you want to bet that these grannies are not the cookie baking type? Rather they are holdovers from the hash brownie baking days of the 60s/70s. They have never been relevant for anything else in their little lives.

I never saw FMJ, but I did hear the phrase at a place called Great Lakes Naval Training Center in 1975. It brought back some old memories. Not pleasant ones.

I heard things very similar to that at Ft Knox in '69. In fact, the first 30 minutes of FMJ is a *very* realistic portrayal of Marine/Army Recruit Training/Basic Combat Training...partially because the guy who played the DI (R Lee Ermy)was,in real life,a retired Marine DI.
I'd strongly recommend that you see this film, but beware that parts of it could be all too realistic.

Thanks, I'll check it out.
