WASHINGTON - President Bush knew Saturday evening that Vice President Dick Cheney had accidentally shot a hunting companion, but the information wasnt made public until the next day by a private citizen, the White House acknowledged Monday.
In a contentious media briefing, White House spokesman Scott McClellan said Cheneys staff was focused on making sure that the shooting victim, Texas attorney Harry Whittington, was receiving adequate medical care after the shooting on the private Armstrong Ranch in south Texas. Whittington and Cheney were hunting quail together.

to be?<
Have you noticed how difficult it is to find a real "grown up" these days?
Kathryn Armstrong, the owner of the ranch, informed a reporter she knew on the Corpus Christi Caller-Times staff, and they printed the story. The bloated egos in the White House Press Corps are livid that they couldn't swarm all over private property and generally make nuisances of themselves. Good for Ms. Armstrong.

Bingo!
The other day the President said that they will go around the MSM when getting their message out and it looks like he meant it.
Didn't President Clinton shot someone in the eye and we didn't find out about it until months later?
Oh wait, that was a different type of load.
Its funny watching the MSM these days. They are a group of no nothings that just stand around and shout "SCANDAL, SCANDAL!!!!!" Everything is a scandal to these people. Katrina, nope that bombed. Iraq is Vietnam, nope that bombed. Plamegate, nope that bombed. So called "Domestic Surveillance" nope that is bombing. Hey, I know Cheney involved in a hunting accident, an accident, Bush knew, SCANDAL, THIS IS IT, THIS IS THE BIG ONE!!!! Bush is going down!!! He is taking heat from this one!!! Nevermind WE, the MSM, are the only one's giving him heat, he is taking heat!!!
That the MSM has reached the point where they are finding scandal in an accident is ridiculous and childish. What is next, yelling SCANDAL over conflicting reports as to what the President had for breakfast? Will the next cry of SCANDAL be the revelation that the White House doesn't use recycled paper for its toilet tissue or that an aide failed to wash his hands after using the bathroom during a state dinner? Sheesh.
On another completly unrelated topic, I am unable to figure out why he MSM has become a parody of itself, can anyone help me?
Yes. Well said. Depriving MSNBCBSABCNBC of millions of dollars of ad revenue on a slow news weekend (sans Olympics). Exactly.
Furthermore, the MSM shows an absurd lack of comprehension regarding Texas quail hunting or hunting/conservation of any kind.
Mrs. Armstrong is a smart lady. She handled the whole situation very well.
Hmmm...maybe she can replace McClellan as Press Secretary.
In lots of western states the federal government is the landowner. The rancher leases the land from them. Fortunately the annexation treaty between the Republic of Texas and the US government failed to get a 2/3rds majority in the House and Senate. If it had, the feds would own all the public land in Texas. The joint congressional resolution to annex Texas that passe by majority vote let Texas own all its public lands and minerals. Imagine how different Texas would be today if the feds owned all the minerals rights.
Naughty, naughty.
Exactly! And what's disturing is that this story is no longer about the victim or even Cheney; for the last several hours the headline news has been "Bush Knew." OMG! Bush knew...Bush knew; and he didn't call the press-corp to let them know.
Savage routinely talks about how liberalism is a mental disorder; and after seeing how these people operate over the last several years, I'm inclined to believe this. I just can't imagine normal people continually acting this ignorant...even after having their ignorance regularily exposed.
I wonder why the press barely mentioned that in 2001, Hillary's caravan (with her in the car) hit and seriously injured a policeman. And didn't stop.
This sort of mistake is something I can understand and empathize with, but like an elderly driver who puts the car through the garage door its not something that should be casually overlooked when someone of the VPs age and medical history age starts making fundamental mistakes behind a steering wheel or a shotgun (and thats what shooting one of your companions in this sort of situation is) its time to think very seriously about taking always the keys and put on the trigger locks nobody likes to do it, but next time they might not be so lucky.
And that's what concerns me about the fact that this would not have been reported unless it was leaked - it's like discovering by finding the body-shop invoice it wasn't just parking lot fender-benders: my mother had spun her car out on the interstate and ended up in the median - this is stuff that as either individuals or citizens trying to make intelligent and informed decisions we IMO deserve to to know.
I haven't seen you since the last time I challenged you to QUOTE one of my alleged "Bush/Cheney are EVIL" posts.
You couldn't do it then, and you can't do it now.
And you apparently don't know anything about hunting, either.
To be truthful, I myself believe the VEEP owes the American public an apology for this incident. He should hold a press conference and inform the people he is extremely sorry he shot the lawyer and thought he was shooting at "John Edwards" during the 2004 campaign. Don't you know the left would be unglued until the 2012 elections on that press release.
