White House under fire over Cheney shooting (A Citizen informs the Press, how dare they!!!)

WASHINGTON - President Bush knew Saturday evening that Vice President Dick Cheney had accidentally shot a hunting companion, but the information wasn’t made public until the next day by a private citizen, the White House acknowledged Monday.

In a contentious media briefing, White House spokesman Scott McClellan said Cheney’s staff was focused on making sure that the shooting victim, Texas attorney Harry Whittington, was receiving adequate medical care after the shooting on the private Armstrong Ranch in south Texas. Whittington and Cheney were hunting quail together.

How did the press vultures forget to demand these answers..??

"We need to see the white chalk line where Whittington fell!"

"How many bb's did the doctors remove?"

"How many stitches did he have to have?"

"When is Cheney's next psychological exam?"

"Do you expect the President to order Cheney to stop hunting?"

"Did Cheney undergo a lie detector and ballistics check?"

"Was the Vice President fingerprinted?"

"Will Whittington sue Cheney?"

"Were you using the restroom when you got the call at 6am?"

"Was anyone with you when you got the call?"

"Has Scooter Libby called the Vice President?"

"Was this outing under surveillance by any intelligence agencies?"

"Were any lobbyists on this trip?"

The old guys who kick off while hunting usually do so from heart attacks.

That is exactly what happened to my father-in-law. The adrenaline of the chase, etc...

And from what have read, the VP's friend went into the bush to retrieve a bird (?).

If he wasn't wearing an orange vest, that's extremely dangerous. And even if he was, it's still dangerous.

I went grouse hunting last fall with my husband. After we heard a noise, we were tiptoeing around... I was using all the skills I'd learned at a wilderness survival course -- special walking techniques to not make noise.

Suffice it to say that at some point, I (who had no gun & was just trying to find the bird and point it out to my husband), thought to myself... holy cow, where is my husband?! He's got the frigging gun! I stopped moving until I could see him, and he saw me, and I waved at him.

And then all was ruined when I had a coughing fit and had to literally run out of the woods, choking, trying to suppress the coughing, LOL!

Real reporters don't wait for stories to be phoned in to them.

"I actually saw a post on DU that said "And they still get on Kennedy's case for not reporting his accident for 8 hours... they waited nearly 24 hours!" "

This shows the idiocy of the left. Kennedy LEFT A WOMAN TO DROWN and did not call the POLICE or AMBULANCE!! In fact, the ONLY thing that Ted Kennedy cared about was the press!!!!

On the contrary, Cheney took care of his friend's injuries and sought medical treatment. Since the injuries were not life threatening, he let the family release the information....Obviously, the press was not interested in covering the Cheney trip or they would have known because they would have been there! They EXPECT the news to be handed to them...and it was, just not like they wanted!!!

"em-bar-ASS-ment"

I totally agree with your definition...but think that the letters above, in caps, are perfectly interchangeable with LIBERAL MEDIA and DEMOCRATS....after all, their mascot is the Jack-ASS.

Still with the lack of courtesy, Cobra? I'd expect you to have better manners, unless you are a transplanted yankee. If you think that stating that a shooter needs to know what is in their field of fire is ZOT worthy, then you've been drinking WAAAAY too much kool-aid. You see, conservatives believe in responsible gun ownership. If that is a problem for bots like you, so be it.

You forgot you tag: Period

BTW, I've been shooting for about 40 years. Pistols, wheel-gunns, rifles and shotguns. One of my best friends is a national champion and partipates in European events. We used to hunt together in CT with his dogs shooting pheasant.

You're right!!! I used to cover the local police reports for radio news; all the local reporters would read through the police activity/ reports from the night before, then write their stories!

"Ref: Kathryn Armstrong, the owner of the ranch, informed a reporter she knew on the Corpus Christi Caller-Times staff, and they printed the story. The bloated egos in the White House Press Corps are livid that they couldn't swarm all over private property and generally make nuisances of themselves. Good for Ms. Armstrong.'

Yea and it's not like the press would have even gone on this trip if they were invited. You think they spend to much time complaining about going to sleepy Crawford with the President. The Armstrong Ranch doesn't have a convenience store within 40 miles of it. Maybe the Vice Pres can drag those Paranaa down there in the middle of July when it's 105 on a cool day down here!

Speaking of buckshot vs. birdshot, I just saw a CNN reporter show, as a prop, a 12 guage shell with 00 buck. He poured the shot out in his hand, and said "this is kind of like the shot he was 'peppered' with".... I believe the Veep had a 28 guage, with bird shot.

I understand it was #8 from a 28 ga. I've never had any need for anything more than 7-1/2 in my 12's (which is all I own) for shooting pheasant and clays. I want to move onto a 20 since the recoil factor is getting to me as I get older.

I forgot to add; the only thing a reporter would know about "shot," is what they consume in a bar.

I want to know: Just how long was it before Bill Clinton held a press conference to announce that he shot a load on Monica Lewinskys dress?
