Live from Denmark: Bomb threats shutting some train stations this evening
Live in Denmark ^

Posted on 02/12/2006 3:19:25 PM PST by GermanBusiness

I couldn't get out to the suburbs this evening from Copenhagen by train. When I was on the platform, a woman got a cellphone from her son telling her that bomb threats were shutting certain stations down. Just then, police arrived with dogs on the platform. So I paid $50 for a taxi. The woman did the same.

I will tell you one thing: this kind of sick behavior is not making the Danish people want to apologize to anybody.

About the $50 cab ride: this is because, if you buy a car in Denmark for $10,000...you owe the government $18,000 in taxes plus 25% Value Added Tax.

The taxi driver was saying that the war on terror was actually helping to convince the Danish people not to be liberals anymore...that it was runaway liberalism that would effectively put a 330% tax on buying a car.

Glad you are safe. Here's wishing the Danes a couple gold metals so we can see their flag fly high.

Denmark needs internment camps for the vermin. Sheep hauling ships could be used until more permanent facilities are built.

I've been following the posts where the danes and other scandanavian countries are pulling out of tsunami releif because the aid workers safety could not be assured.

330% tax and how much is going to socal programs to support muslim immigrants?

I suspect that GHWB and the toon will win the Nobel prize in an effort to keep aid in muslim countries.

The Danes only have a curling team at the Olympics. They have no skiers for obvious reasons. ;-)

The curlers all practice at a rink a few hundred yards from where I am now.

No, the taxi driver was not Muslim, but there is a nice Muslim guy at the reception of my hotel, who can read this wireless traffic so let's all be nice here. ;-)

[330% tax and how much is going to socal programs to support muslim immigrants?]

And that is the whole point: the Danish people are waking up to the fact that they pay 330% taxes for cars so the liberals can import more voters.

No speed skaters???

I am a victim of my childhood reading. I thought the Danes were big in ice skating, Hans Brinker and all that you know.

Glad you're OK. If what happened in London and in Spain happens there the Danes are going to go ballistic.

It doesn't matter if you buy a car elsewhere or not...you have to register the car in Denmark and prove how much you paid for it...and then you owe the taxes.

This is why you rarely see a Mercedes or BMW in Denmark. Imagine paying $150,000 in taxes for your car.

No speed skaters. Just curlers this year.

I am heading down the street to the nearest gas station to buy some Arla Foods milk to drink because the hotel bar is closed.
