I don't like big government but this I might want to support
There are some good laws

NATIONAL RIGHT-TO-CARRY
BILL INTRODUCED

U.S. Representative Cliff Stearns (R-Fla.) recently introduced H.R. 4547-a national Right-to-Carry (RTC) reciprocity bill that would provide national reciprocity for state carry licensees. The bill would allow any person with a valid carry permit or license issued by a state to carry a concealed firearm in any other state if they meet certain criteria. The bill would not create a federal licensing system; it would simply require the states to recognize each other's carry permits, just as they recognize drivers' licenses.

Please be sure to contact your U.S. Representative at (202) 225-3121, and urge him or her to cosponsor and support H.R. 4547!

While this is an understandable measure, the bare second ammendment is all we need. Repeal all other state, local, and federal laws.

This would be unconstitutional to pass...but then again when does Congress ever reads the Constitution?

Its ridiculous to expect Permit holders to have to keep a running note of which states he has to secure his firearm in while driving to a destination

Unfortunately, this bill will never pass. It should, but it won't.

While that would be ideal, we need this sort of legislation first.

Here's how it would work:
1. The NRC bill passes. Dims and press whines and complains that massive bloodbath will ensue.
2. Bloodbath does not ensue.
3. Crime drops.
4. DOJ stats prove out that NRC doesn't increase crime.
5. Other studies also prove this.
6. *THEN* there is statistical evidence to justify the removal of other gun control laws.

Legally purchased handguns owned by law abiding citizens should be allowed anywhere in the United States, period.

We do not need a law, we have the Constitution. Tell the government to simply honor it.

A friend of mine was headed to Ga from TX to visit his daughter, both states share reciprocity.

He was pulled over in Al? and was technically in violation of gun law because he forgot to secure the pistol before crossing the stateline.

Luckily the officer didnt cite him

My feelings exactly.

The Constitution covers the whole country.
Not just certain areas.

However, the 10th Amendendment does give back almost all power to the states.
But does the 10th suprersede the 2nd?

IMAO, No, it does not.

Why would it be unconstitutional? The various states recognize my Tennessee driver's license, how would forcing them to recognize my Tennessee carry permit be any different? Between the "full faith and credit" clause and the "equal protection" of the 14th Amendment, it seems to be a no-brainer to me, but, of course, I'm not a Democrat or a politician.

By secure, I assume you mean locked in the glove box, or trunk?

or just out of sight?

Can I have some of what your are smoking?

Seriously, your sequence is logical and makes perfect sense - therefore it will never happen that way.
