Complete Olympic Schedule (Presumably updated with Results)
well she's hot and it helps that she can touch the back of her head with her foot if she needs too LOL
I'm guessing there will be a new live 'spoiler' thread for each day, unless the Admin Mods modify this title thread each day.
Last night at the opening ceremony, and after hearing the huge welcome the USA team got, I wondered if there aren't a lot of Americans over there.
The Carolina Hurricanes are having a big sendoff after their game tomorrow for seven of their players and two staff members who are going over there.
It's a really big deal down here. Who would have thought Raleigh would be such a big hockey town?
I spoke to Howlin yesterday about putting up the new thread every day by 8 am. I did not put it in breaking news this morning because I was unsure if it was appropriate.
So should I just start the new thread with the Day 2, 3 etc and put it in breaking news everyday?
The opening ceremony got over 1800 replies so I am thinking we should have a new thread daily.
Let me know
Alisa : )
I sense snow angels are in your future. LOL
Yes... start a new thread to it's at the top of beaking news each day. Hopefully the Admin Mod will agree. Heck it's the Olympics...
Yes, that's what the Admin Moderator said would work; after the events start on TV late in the day, we'll remove the SPOILER THREAD remark and put LIVE THREAD up there.
It's the same thread, just marked SPOILER during the day for those who are watching live.
We'll stay on the same thread, but mark it LIVE later in the afternoon on the East Coast.
Sounds great!
Did you ever hear Italian jokes that put an "a" on an English word? Well in English we say "Milan," in Italy, they say "Milano." Florence is Fiorenza...Italian is Italiano...Rome is Roma....Venice is Venezia...as explained, Turin is Torino.
I do not know the Italian language at all (wish I did), but I've been there four times, and it is a wonderful and beautiful place to visit. My last trip was in October. I have found the people so friendly, and when you ask for directions or information, they will try their best to help you by speaking English. But what is so funny, is that they will put an "a" on most of our English words, which is so cute. Something like, "You a.. turn a.. right a.. next a.. block a."
I felt safe everywhere I went, and we had a wonderful time, but you are cautioned to watch your purse and wallets
when walking the sidewalks or in the subways. The gypsies, especially with children, will divert your attention, and your wallet is gone...a. We spoke to two American couples in Rome, in only three days, whose wallets disappeared in the subway....separate incidents....they weren't together. On my last trip six years ago, I witnessed a guy running up the stairs of the subway, yelling, "He took my wallet." Then again, I saw the same thing in Paris with a British lady simply going through a subway turnstile, and also saw a woman's purse snatched in a Chicago department store. So it isn't only Italy.
I would not let this deter me from another visit, though. You just have to be careful with your belongings. In fact, we took cabs or walked during our visit there this time. There were four of us, so the cab fare split four ways made it worthwhile. I'm ready to go back!
Hope I didn't ruin your thread by "changing the subject," in my last post. It's just that I LOVE ITALY!
Little tidbits about the host country are a welcome pleasure : ))
Wheres Carlo? We need some Italian recipes : )
Thanks. I am waiting and watching the clouds move in. It's almost cold enough right now for snow, if the precipitation commences.
We'd probably lock and link any thread that got to 2,700 posts if we noticed in time.
We want to work with everyone here and we appreciate all your efforts, too.
We did similar here in 2002 for Salt Lake City and it worked out pretty well.
Although it is hard to not find out results ahead of time unless you turn off computer tv and radio until the events are broadcast tape delayed.
I always root for Japan. Sometimes Britain, I used to support Canada but I do not care for them anymore.
So you want me to start a LIVE THREAD in the afternoon?
Wow, what a wonderful story! Same goes for Kalifornia. We've got three NHL teams here. Two in La La land, and one in Silicon Valley. Who woulda ever thunk it. The Sharks continue to sell out every night, even when the suck bad.
