America Supports Poland's Challenge to Russia

Simon Araloff, AIA European section, Warsaw

Visit of the Polish President Kaczynski to the USA, which began yesterday, can already be marked as a successful one. In exchange for loud assurances of the Poles fidelity to the union with the United States, the White House declared its readiness to support the main project of the Warsaw diplomacy - creation of the NATO-like "European Energy Union".

Lech Kaczynski’s Huge Success

If someone in Europe had any doubts concerning foreign policy of the new Right-wing conservative leadership of the Polish republic, yesterday these doubts finally dissipated. The Polish

President Lech Kaczynski, who arrived with the first official visit to Washington, unequivocally positioned his country as a true partner of the USA on NATO and on the international coalition in Iraq. The Polish and the American leaders, who met yesterday for the first time, carried out confidential conversation in the White House. Despite being relatively brief (about an hour), the reaction to it of the Polish delegation was more than positive.

The members of the delegation with whom the author of these lines yesterday managed to informally discuss the events, declared that their boss confirmed Poland’s readiness for close mutual partnership relations with the USA, including prolongation of the Polish military presence in Iraq, and also participation in activity of the peacemaking forces in Afghanistan. George Bush, in his turn, declared readiness to develop partnership relations with Warsaw, supported its sharply negative position towards the recent Russian - Ukrainian energy crisis, and also expressed his gratitude for the actions of the Polish military contingent in Iraq. The presidents also discussed the current situation in the EU, Central and Eastern Europe. Special attention was paid to the situation in Ukraine and in Belarus. As Kaczynski said, President Bush was interested to hear his personal opinion on the processes occurring in these two Polish neighbors. The guest from Warsaw took an advantage of the opportunity to discuss with the American colleague of the idea of Ukraine’s joining NATO in 2008.

Thus, the coterie of Kaczynski declared, he achieved the first main task of his visit - confirmation of strategic partnership with the USA at the highest level. Now the second major task of the agenda of the visit is personal acquaintance with the high-ranking officials of the American administration. Kaczynski and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Stefan Meller who accompanies him last night began a series of meetings with the representatives of the White House. Among the officials scheduled to meet them are the - Vice-President Dick Cheney, the Head of the State Department Condoleezza Rice, and the heads of the Republican and Democratic blocs in the Senate. From the point of view of the Poles, one of the most important issues, which Kaczynski is going to mention during the visit, is introduction of a visa-free regime for the Polish citizens entering the USA. Today the Americans enjoy the right of visa-free entry to Poland, while the Polish citizens entering the USA have to arrange a visa. The leadership of Poland, including Kaczynski, declares its readiness to achieve changes of this discriminating, from their point of view, situation, which is not corresponding to the level of partnership relations between the two countries. At the same time American representatives declare that the issue of visas cannot be solved so promptly, as, first of all, the level of the Polish security system does not meet the high standards introduced in the USA after September 11, 2001. Currently the American and the Polish secret services are jointly working to eliminate this gap, however, according to the Americans, this process "cannot be finished in one day”.

Simultaneously, Washington declares that the Poles have already received a “compensation” for the visas issue - the consent of President Bush to support the concept of "energy security" of Central Europe, and the European Union as a whole, presented by Warsaw. Poland’s readiness to keep its downsized military contingent in Iraq (900 soldiers instead of 1500, as it is today) for at least one more year has played not the last role in the White House’s decision to give its support in the energy issue. In case the information on American support of the Polish energy initiative proves to be true, it can be counted, perhaps, as the most significant success of Kaczynski’s voyage.

Norwegian Gas – Poland's Gift to Europe

The essence of the Polish "energy security" idea is in declaration of the necessity of diversification of the energy carriers sources, which the European countries use. Today Russia is practically the exclusive supplier of natural gas to the European Union, and that makes the latter extremely dependent of Moscow’s political whims. The best example is the recent Russian - Ukrainian gas crisis.

For the first time the diversification idea was voiced at the beginning of this year by the Polish Prime Minister Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz. Then, the Polish and the Scandinavian press published information on the beginning of negotiations between Warsaw and Oslo on deliveries of the Norwegian natural gas to Poland. Already at the middle of January Marcinkiewicz managed to inspire his Czech, Slovak, and Hungarian colleagues with the "energy security" idea. The Hungarians even managed to sign the contract with the Croats on construction of a new terminal for the liquefied natural gas at the Adriatic Sea coast. It is expected that in March, at the EU summit, Warsaw, Prague, Bratislava, and Budapest will present their colleagues on the European Union with the collective project on creation of so-called "Organization of Collective Energy Security", which is to be build similarly to the NATO model.

While in the European capitals are still catching up on the rumors of a cooking-up Central European energy initiative, various influential American circles have already declared their support of it. On January 28, at the World Economic Forum in Davos, a well-known American billionaire George Soros spoke of the necessity of diversification of the energy streams to Europe. Several days later, the assistant to the US Secretary of State, Daniel Fried, came to Warsaw and declared of the White House’s support to the Polish power initiative. According to the abovementioned information, now the American President himself reiterated his support during the personal meeting with his Polish colleague.

In this connection it is interesting to mention the first reaction of the German diplomats. Making comments on Fried's visit to Warsaw, and yesterday's alleged statement of the President Bush on the energy issue, one of the sources in Frank Walter Steinmeier’s department declared that it is definitely an attempt to needle Angela Merkel. As it is known, after her recent visit to Moscow, the German chancellor has been insisting on continuation of construction of the German-Russian gas pipeline on the bottom of the Baltic Sea (North European Gas Pipeline – NEGP).

It's funny how politics can make strange bedfellows. Soros poured millions of dollars trying to defeat George Bush in the last US Presidential elections. He's also the one who urges "dialogue" with Islamonazis and urges more concessions from Israel. He is also a leading supporter of all the socialist-leftist causes in United States. See http://www.discoverthenetwork.org/individualProfile.asp? indid=977> DiscoverTheNetwork for more info on him. But here Soros is working together with Bush Administration to create an energy security for E. Europe. Really world can be strange -:)))

" I must be carefull because he can be in my fridge. lol"

Hopefully he won't go that far -:)))) If Soros had spent his energy only for constructive purposes (like the energy security for E. Europe), there wouldn't be any problem with him. Too bad he is billionaire with utopian visions--quite an explosive combination -:))))

He broke his leg and was cared for by England's National Health Service, free of charge, while the Jewish relief agencies of that era did not offer him the help he believed they owed him.

Looks like he must have fallen from the stairs and the leg was not the only injury. Unfortunately, the neuro-psychological treatment was not free of charge ;)

BTW. Who would have thought that a broken leg may have such an influence on a man's life...

I guess his neuron connections were disrupted too, so he suffered mental blackout and imagined that he was penniless and broke -:)))

What is this AXIS? It seems to me a very suspicious organisation. A bit too pro-Russian, don't you think?

Soros is working to kill babies and see marriage for gays in poland.

Anything he may accomplish along the way is incidental to his goal; killing babies and seeing homosexuals marrying in churches in poland.

He's using the Bush administration and Poland for one purpose; killing babies and seeing homosexuals allowed to marry in Poland.

And yet 'conservatives' cheerlead for him.

TRANSLATION = America's Visa Waiver Program requires that a high percentage of the recipients of non-immigrant visas return to their home country at the expiration of their visa. Poles violate the terms of their visas, and do not return home, because they want to come and live in America. Additionally, at this time Poland receives more immigrant visas than Russia, a country with a much larger population. Poles have a major problem only they can solve by making certain their citizens obey American law.

Looking at their website it is very apparent to me AXISGLOBE.COM is a Polish company, and much like the Polish state funded Centre for European Studies. Obviously, this is another one of their propaganda mills with a goal to rack up American sympathy and dollars.

I don't trust any source that openly admits to having people use "pen names" to publish materials. No way of verifying claims and very easy to make up information - which, after reading their materials, looks like what they have done. It reads like the paranoid emigre writings that one encounters from those who left their home countries years ago and try to write articles on current topics, i.e., out of touch.

You'll notice that the Polish/Ukrainian posse here will say not a word against their EU paymasters. Even when Brussels flat out said they'll have gay "rights" in Poland these shills tried to play it off or work around it. Go back and read that thread. The moral acrobatics were fascinating.
