Livni: Compromise with Hamas 'a slippery slope'
Jerusalem Post ^ | February 10, 2006 | HERB KEINON

Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni warned against international recognition of Hamas in a New York Sun interview published Friday morning. The warning came in the wake of Russian president Vladimir Putin's invitation to Hamas to come to Moscow for talks.

According to Livni, there was a "slippery slope" effect caused by the tendency of some international actors to compromise with Hamas. Any sign of weakness in dealing with Hamas, she added, would lead to "a negative effect - not only for Israel, but also for the Palestinian people and for the international community."

Putin regime alongside some European socialists, like Spanish PM Zapatero and French Foreign Ministry, apparently lost any sense of situation. Giving legitimacy to a vicious Islamist organization bent on destroying Israel and aspiring for a worldwide Islamic revolution will endanger Russia too as Islamic insurgency in Chechnya and North Caucasus continues. Hamas without hesitation will get financial assistance from "Infidel" Russia and with other hand will assist Jihadists in their war against Russia. Really, whom God wants to destroy he deprives of mind.

What do you think about the recent winning the elections by Hamas? Were the elections fair and democratic or not?

It is a slippery slope and there will be a time when things either progress to diplomatic relations or full scale war.

Yes, they elections were democratic if you limit democracy just to elections and forget about host of other institutions that create a healthy and civilized society.

Will elections change Hamas nature as an armed Islamic terror group bent on destroying Israel ? Did elections in early 1930's Germany change the nature of Nazis ?

That's good you mentioned Nazis. Don't you think that there's really a big problem that Palestinian Arabs elected terrorists?

What's to do in this case? "Kill 'em all"?

Probably, Hamas could take a softer, acceptable position since they have official status now? AFAIK, Yasser Arafat was also a terrorist like today's Hamas. But later he was accepted as the representative for the Arabs.

I suppose in your logic, Israel needs to recognize Hamastan and continue give "land for peace" until nothing is left of Israel--am I right ?

You don't see any other choice between cuddling with Hamas and Turning PA into a wasteland ? How about possiblity of destroying Hamas regime, dismantling its terror infrastructure and giving Palestinian Arabs living there a choice to accept Israel as a Jewish state and have most of the rights except certain political rights or leave for Arab countries with compensation and dignity ?

No, I just wanted to see your variants that's why I asked the question.

There is no any Hamas regime. Hamas took the power too little time ago.

What would you do if the Arabs would either want full rights in Israel, or an equal role (two official languages, religions, etc.) or wouldn’t want to go even with a compensation? Something tells me these things are likely to happen.

This is my proposal:

1.Israel builds a fortified one mile wide border on the demarcation line between Israel and Palestine, as drawn in the UN decision.

2. A population exchange is conducted - all Arabs and Jews are left in "their" parts of the wall.

3. The sides are prevented from the contact with each other.

I think this might work.
