The Governor's School of North Carolina describes itself as "program for intellectually gifted high school students, integrating academic disciplines, the arts, and unique courses." But one North Carolina couple is suffering some after effects of their son's involvement in the program. Jim and Beverly Burrows say after their son attended a Governor's School seminar called "The New Gay Teenager," he began telling them he was unsure of his "sexual orientation."
The parents believe the seminar was intentionally scheduled as the last optional one before classes ended in order to leave a strong, lasting impression on the students and bypass any parental notification about the seminar.
Jim Burrows says he noticed a big difference in his otherwise normal son upon his return from the school.
"He [said he] was thinking now that he perhaps was gay -- and of course I was floored by this [pronouncement] and was, like, 'where did this come from?' This kind of came out of left field," the dad says. After questioning his son for an extended period, Burrows says he discovered the source. "I found out that this was as a result of this seminar."
According to Burrows, his son was instructed by two openly homosexual staff members of the Governor's School to question his sexuality as well as Bible passages that condemn homosexuality. And the students were also encouraged by instructors to start a Gay Straight Alliance club at their schools, he says.
The North Carolina dad explains that his son's subsequent struggle with homosexuality has turned his family upside down. "As far as our family is concerned, the damage has already been done," he laments. "There's no way that we can go back and undo what has been done."
Still, Mr. Burrows feels he needs to warn other parents of the homosexual indoctrination his son encountered at the Governor's School. "[I]f I can keep one other family from having to go through this, then all this trouble has been worthwhile," he says.
I make no appology. Some people are born gay. A few hours with some homo's in charge of a lecture did not make this guy want bums of the hairier variety...
I met a few rather "left-wing" types in Asheville a few weeks ago. If you haven't been there in decades, you'd probably find it's changed a bit.
o.K., just lets not use the terms "sowing the seeds" and "making people gay" in the same sentence...
I don't think a seminar would make any heterosexual person question their sexuality. The kid was already gay.
The web site seemed to indicate that there are several optional seminars. I'm sure it is the students who choose.
Where is the ACLU? That is religion in a publicly funded school.
The professor says he hopes that "we can accept a wide range on the sexual spectrum -- most of us are somewhere in between [gay and heterosexual]."
What a load of cr@p. The so called professor has decided to convince these kids there really is no such thing as straight. It's the sexual spectrum thingy and everybody's got a little gay in em. Once that seed of doubt is planted, the professor has plenty of minions more than willing to take over.
The term is "chicken-hawked". Do some reading. It'll make you ill.
So maybe as an alum, you can wield some influence there? to get rid of this crap that "conveniently" bypassed parental notification?
Made only a quick read through...too late to get into this tonight.
BUT...I am stunned at the number of people in this thread siding with the aggressive (predatory) outreach of the faggot "community."
Kudos to those who have cogently spoken here in solidarity with the abused child and his family.
I've been attracted to beautiful women as long as can remember. Nothing anyone ever said could change that. I cannot fathom that any heterosexual is going to be peer pressured into being gay. It is ridiculous. You are either gay or you aren't. The suggestion that gays choose to be gay implies that people also choose to become hetero sexual. I firmly believe there is a gay gene or gay genes that make these people this way, because they seem to have certain characteristics, i.e. gay men are usually very feminine in appearance and demeanor while lesbians are very masculine. I also saw gay dogs before, which suggests gayness is some kind of biological oddity that appears occasionally.
NC is not conservative. The Dem government is as corrupt as Louisiana's and Washington's. NC is not a good state for conservatives.
Try VA, SC, Miss, or help take back NH.
With all that said I don't really approve of NC taxpayers paying for a seminar called "the New Gay Teenager." I also don't want people to come at me like I am a supporter of the gay agenda. My only point was that this kid was gay long before he went to class, and that gays are basically born gay.
"gay men are usually very feminine in appearance and demeanor"
And some are very guy like and women drool over them.
"while lesbians are very masculine."
And some are real babes that guys drool over. (until they find out)
You may be and I may be, but I think that there are many that gradually fall into something else.
Not me, but others, sure. Do you think they would spend so much effort on such things if they didn't work to increase their numbers?
This should be a crime. How many mistakes did you make as a teeneager that you ended up regretting ?
There is a reason why gay men prey on teenage boys. They are insecure, often feel rejected, and are very vulnerable. On top of that they get horny when the wind blows. Put all this together, and yes adult predators can have an effect on the how boys think about sex.
