The Governor's School of North Carolina describes itself as "program for intellectually gifted high school students, integrating academic disciplines, the arts, and unique courses." But one North Carolina couple is suffering some after effects of their son's involvement in the program. Jim and Beverly Burrows say after their son attended a Governor's School seminar called "The New Gay Teenager," he began telling them he was unsure of his "sexual orientation."
The parents believe the seminar was intentionally scheduled as the last optional one before classes ended in order to leave a strong, lasting impression on the students and bypass any parental notification about the seminar.
Jim Burrows says he noticed a big difference in his otherwise normal son upon his return from the school.
"He [said he] was thinking now that he perhaps was gay -- and of course I was floored by this [pronouncement] and was, like, 'where did this come from?' This kind of came out of left field," the dad says. After questioning his son for an extended period, Burrows says he discovered the source. "I found out that this was as a result of this seminar."
According to Burrows, his son was instructed by two openly homosexual staff members of the Governor's School to question his sexuality as well as Bible passages that condemn homosexuality. And the students were also encouraged by instructors to start a Gay Straight Alliance club at their schools, he says.
The North Carolina dad explains that his son's subsequent struggle with homosexuality has turned his family upside down. "As far as our family is concerned, the damage has already been done," he laments. "There's no way that we can go back and undo what has been done."
Still, Mr. Burrows feels he needs to warn other parents of the homosexual indoctrination his son encountered at the Governor's School. "[I]f I can keep one other family from having to go through this, then all this trouble has been worthwhile," he says.
And Jesus would tell homosexuals to leave their life of sin as he told the woman caught in adultery (John 8:11).
It appears you consider us pharisaical when we're telling those caught in homosexuality there is a way out.
The Governor's School looks like the school of post modern, deconstructionist relativism judging from its English and Social Studies curriculum. Who or what funds this subversive crap?
Not that so much, but asking someone to ping me at work or at home.
OK, goodbye.
LOL! As though the memory of a couple of homosexuals trying to seduce me decades ago bothers me now! Are you out of your mind? If those were the worst memories I had, I'd be like the driven snow! They didn't molest me as I was full grown and didn't let them take any liberties.
It just so happens I know something about teenagers and education, and something about the "gay" agenda as well.
In fact, I am at least as familiar with homosexual agenda talking points as you are.
So you're going to stop posting, hmmm? Well, maybe run back to the manual or the "gay" promoting websites you hang out on and learn some better lines, and try over here again.
You do realize you're not fooling anyone, right?
What about dreaming that you're freepmailing or posting comments?
LOL -well your motivation for posting on this thread is becoming less assumed and more objectively apparent.
Your critical thinking and analysis are liberally noteworty and politically impotent precepts of the leftist minority -assuming there are some conservative aspects to your thinking I assume maybe you a libertarian?
Gay bogeymen don't haunt my dreams or my nightmares.
People that support and promote the homosexual agenda are not welcome of FR.
Been there and done that. What is bad, is when you sit at work and are not allowed to reply, except during your lunch break.
There have been many times I wanted to log in and post a reply from work, but our policies prohibit posting on FR and other forums during working hours.
Reading but no posting on FR makes long work hours.
Haha! Well, she asked for it.
I laughed out loud when I saw what the moderator said in response.
You need a laptop at work for personal stuff then?
So did I.
I need to retire and just FReep from home. My Honey Do list is getting shorter each weekend, and I need to concentrate on FR.
doesnt matter, the fact is that a seminar of this sort could persuade one into homosexuality, it definintely glorifies it.
When you were a goofy awkward boy, could someone have led you into this sort of thing? Did anyone?
Not likely. But again, that is not the issue. I have yet to read someone that claimed that every person could be led to this behavior and I also did not make that claim. All I stated was that it is completely rational that someone could be led into it. It happens all the time in many different areas. My own history has no bearing on the fact that children are impressionable and people could be ushered into this lifestyle.
Do you think using faux profanity gives your point more credibility, or is that the only way you know to express yourself?
It doesnt lend credibility, what it does is illustrate my frustration with the likes of you and your buddies on this board. Obviously its not the only way I know how to express myself because my previous posts have been essentialy void of such "faux profanity." I (and others) have presented evidence and plausible circumstances to verify my (our) points, while you and your friends who prefer to look away from facts and evidence and instead ask me if I'm gay or my kids are or this or that, you have brought nothing to the table and are essentially just making most people read more than they have to. Stop wasting everyones time with the same ol same ol.
That's precisely my point. Sometimes others do the choosing. Others who are older, subtler, more widely experienced in human nature -- men who are able to play teenaged boys like a cheap piano.
They choose.
Seems to me scripter was awfully civil to you in reply. He has more patience with that kind of thing than I do.
"So did you refuse out of psychological incapacity, religiously-induced intellectual and moral straitjacketing, or are you just a hard sell? Or did you sell out your nugatory and eggshell-fragile 'mores' after all?" That's what I read. Care to comment?
Everyone have a look at #246. Let's have a sense of the forum. Am I reading too much into it, or did Amelia try to paint scripter into a corner?
Who's being a straight shooter here? Who's on the level?
Comments, anyone?
I believe you meant #241... my response was #246.
Indeed there is: 'The New Gay Teenager':
The "New Gay Teenager" will be a person who can be attracted to both girls and boys and have sexual relationships with both sexes without guilt. The "New Gay Teenager," then is basically a pansexual or bisexual who rejects all gender categories. They are trying to blur the lines...
Seems to me scripter was awfully civil to you in reply. He has more patience with that kind of thing than I do.
Thank you.
She indeed stepped over the line in post 241. Way over. I was trying to be nice in my reply but she did it again in post 261.
My response was post 264, which was a rewrite of her own 242 to thehumanlynx. Apparently she's rather thin skinned as she doesn't like her own medicine and decided to leave at that point.
