Dad Says His Son 'Damaged' by Homosexual Indoctrination at State-Sponsored Program
Agape Press ^ | 02.09.04 | Jim Brown

Posted on 02/09/2006 5:36:17 PM PST by Coleus

Two Christian parents say their son was a victim of homosexual indoctrination at the prestigious "Governor's School of North Carolina."

The Governor's School of North Carolina describes itself as "program for intellectually gifted high school students, integrating academic disciplines, the arts, and unique courses." But one North Carolina couple is suffering some after effects of their son's involvement in the program. Jim and Beverly Burrows say after their son attended a Governor's School seminar called "The New Gay Teenager," he began telling them he was unsure of his "sexual orientation."

The parents believe the seminar was intentionally scheduled as the last optional one before classes ended in order to leave a strong, lasting impression on the students and bypass any parental notification about the seminar.

Jim Burrows says he noticed a big difference in his otherwise normal son upon his return from the school.

"He [said he] was thinking now that he perhaps was gay -- and of course I was floored by this [pronouncement] and was, like, 'where did this come from?' This kind of came out of left field," the dad says. After questioning his son for an extended period, Burrows says he discovered the source. "I found out that this was as a result of this seminar."

According to Burrows, his son was instructed by two openly homosexual staff members of the Governor's School to question his sexuality as well as Bible passages that condemn homosexuality. And the students were also encouraged by instructors to start a Gay Straight Alliance club at their schools, he says.

The North Carolina dad explains that his son's subsequent struggle with homosexuality has turned his family upside down. "As far as our family is concerned, the damage has already been done," he laments. "There's no way that we can go back and undo what has been done."

Still, Mr. Burrows feels he needs to warn other parents of the homosexual indoctrination his son encountered at the Governor's School. "[I]f I can keep one other family from having to go through this, then all this trouble has been worthwhile," he says.

This school is linked with public education. Wouldn't it be funny if the parents could get the ACLU to go after the homosexuals for teaching religion in school ie use of the Bible...

The homosexual push to influence impressionable children to question their sexuality, as much as exposing children to pornography, is as bad as actually commiting physical molestation, and as long lasting, That this should occur in a "venue of learning" is absolutely criminal!

These seminars may not be designed to "make people gay." That said, they serve the useful purpose of sowing the seeds of doubt in children's heads.

How do you explain the division of people's votes in NC?

My wife and I are considering a move there so it is more than just idle curiosity.

Why on Earth is this permitted in schools at all? How did we let it get this far?

1) Because we let the Democrats get away with.

2) The American public keeps electing Democrats.

Peaceful dreams.

Yes, I suppose so.

AdMuncher has options to conceal what URL you have just come from and what kind of browser you are using, but I suspect that it slows things down, and I'm not that paranoid anyway, so I don't select these options.

Oh, I see, its fine to quote the Bible if you are gay but it isn't okay if you aren't.

Don't be silly.

It's only okay to quote the Bible in school if you're attacking its veracity.

Being "gay" has nothing to do with it!

Maybe he should spread a rumor that these gay instructors were interpreting Koran passages. That would bring the program to a screeching halt.

Others could explain it much better than me, but here goes;

Part of it is tradition.

Part of it is that the state is probably becoming less Red, with the influx of bluestaters (many of whom bring blue state values with them).

Part of it the ease with which state office Democrats can fraudulently run as conservatives, then never get called on it by the media when they govern as liberals.

I didn't mean to make it sound as though NC is unique in this, as obviously its not. Just think of all the Republican governors in blue states, and vice versa. But what is so frustrating and vexing about this particular issue is that the public overwhelmingly rejects the homosexual agenda in North Carolina, yet the legislature won't even let them have a direct vote on it. Tennessee also has a Democrat-ran state govt, yet they will get to vote on it this year (albeit on a watered down version). I wouldn't be surprised if the NC state sup court strikes down the statute banning gay marriage in the near future, and imposes at least civil unions.

Somehow I think that one voluntary meeting at school where they pass out literature is not something that is going to cause a secure, heterosexual young man to get brainwashed into a life of homosexuality.

Are all heterosexual young men secure in their sexuality?

Is it at all hard to believe that some young men whose sexuality is late to develop, and who are thus insecure, might be led into homosexual experimentation which would interfere with what would have been normal albeit delayed sexual development?

Seems to me that (1) such things almost certainly happen to a significant degree, and (2) it's not by accident, but by design.

If two grown men want to engage in sodomy with each other, I don't care. But the homosexual community is explicitly targeting kids, and I find that abhorrent.

Governor's Schools are in about 28 states now. Here's some info:

National Conference of Governor's School (NCoGS)

What is a "Governor's School"?

The Governors' School concept and practice began in North Carolina in 1963 when Governor Terry Sanford established the first one at Salem College, Winston-Salem, NC. The idea came from a member of Governor Sanford's staff, novelist John Ehle. This first school was initially funded through a grant from the Carnegie Corporation.  Later it came under the auspices of the North Carolina Board of Education of North Carolina and Department of Education.

After the first school was established, several states, including Georgia, South Carolina, Arkansas, and Kentucky, quickly established similar schools. As of 1996, there were approximately 100 schools in 28 states. It should be pointed out that some of the NCoGS affiliated schools do not bear the words "Governor's School" in their titles, although many do. The mission and purpose of schools from individual states vary from one state to another and indeed from one school to another. The National Conference of Governor's Schools enjoys a very diverse group in its affiliated schools.

It is very important to note however, that there are both collective and common features in all states and schools.

  1. Each school is a summer program for gifted and talented youths of high school ages.
  2. Each school has highly selective criteria for student selection.
  3. Most member schools are supported entirely or in large part by their state legislatures and educational funding.
  4. Schools vary in the length of their sessions from two weeks to six weeks.
  5. All schools welcome inquiries regarding program and curricula.

Purposefully encouraging an extremely dangerous behavior on young people who are just learning about their own sexuality is predation on the weak.

When you were 15 or 16 or 17, could someone have talked you into becoming homosexual? What do you think they could have said to you to make that idea appealing?

Of course children are damaged by this socialist insanity. Kids are, generally speaking, like most human beings. They are, by nature, heterosexual.

Of course, that won't prevent the Stalinists from engaging in indoctrination. They hate nature and everything it represents. And they hate human beings.

Well it (homosexuality) is a choice. People that are weak can make bad choices with bad peer pressure.

THANK YOU! I have been trying to get this across to anyone who will listen. Gender preference is a choice. Almost every normal young child falls "in love" with someone of the same gender -- not sexual love, of course, but the idol worship of the young. A boy wants to be like a baseball star. A girl wants to be like a ballerina. A boy wants to be like a rodeo rider. A girl wants to be like a singer. That does not 'make' either a homosexual. It makes them 'normal' and it's a part of growing up. BUT you get those same children within eye-shot of practicing homosexuals/lesbians and they tell the child that the 'hero/heroine worship' is 'sexual' and that means that they are homosexuals.

NOT.

And the sad fact is that many psychiatrists and psychologists have a "homo-agenda" and also reinforce the "well if you weren't a homosexual you wouldn't feel 'love' for ___________ (fill in same gender hero/heroine)."

You don't want to get me started!

No they don't MAKE you gay. However, they do prey on the sexually naive and fragile.

They intentionally confuse people about sexuality and open them up to the idea that everyone's sexuality is transient.

I actually saw one curriculum guide that said if you had EVER had any sexual thought or dream or fleeting question, no matter how trivial, about the same sex, you are probably gay or bisexual. That is garbage. Especially if they had just spent the last fifteen or twenty minutes talking about how being gay works. It wreaks of entrapment.

It was creepy and messed up. The scary part is that they were proposing that this curriculum be used with fourth graders.
