Barr was aggressively pushing his pro-Judicial Oligarchy agenda; The audience protested and was silenced.
Barr ignored questions challenging his premise that "Bush should not decide where to put wire taps; An [appointed] judge should make the decision."
Barr ignores the fact that the president is elected and the president can be booted. There's almost no way to get rid of a useless judge.
Barr advocates giving more power to the judicial branch of the government. My question--which I did not get to ask --would have been: Why even bother with elections? Why not just have judges, aka LAWYERS, choose our leaders?
I feel like we are sitting ducks at a "you should all become moderates" conference.
BTW, This was during a "panel" where there is supposed to be open debate. Instead there were head-nodding puppets.
Someone please tell me I'm wrong.
"Why not just have judges, aka LAWYERS, choose our leaders?"
Puhleeeeeze! Don't give these idiots any ideas. The moderates would love that idea.
Can not be there. Thanks for the insight.
Who the hell is Bob Barr? He is nothing. An irrelevance. Why was he even invited?
bob barr is also an ACLU employee.
Thanks so much for the commentary on the Barr appearance..
I knew it couldn't have been good...when I heard Chrissy Matthews on Hairball touting his appearance today..and how even HE thinks Bush is operating illegaly.
BTW...I can't believe someone asked him to speak at CPAC when he was supposed to be the one to introduce Gore at that MOVEON.ORG speech last month!!
This guy is to be shunned, IMHO.
And should judges decide how to fight wars? I appreciate your reports, TR. This does not sound good.
Thanks for the report. Barr is way off base.
Thanks for starting this thread and for the mini-report on the panel Bob Barr was participating on today. Interesting that Barr got booed. I wonder if they will edit it out of the CPAC tapes of the event like MSM does for certain people.
I couldn't get away from work to attend today, so I'm grateful for news from CPAC. Hope I have a chance to see you tomorrow -- I'll be there early afternoon.
I read that John Kerry was/is miffed that HE wasn't invited the CONSERVATIVE CPAC. LOL
Last time I saw Barr at a conference, he had his head together. Now he talks like a salesman for the Mother Ship. No telling how something like this happens. It just does.
This is more evidence for my theory that the number one problem in this country is the legal/judicial/court system.
If we could fix that, we could fix corruption in politics and business. We could drastically reduce taxes. We could drastically reduce crime. And we could far more effectively fight the war on terror.
Just name your pet problem, and it probably can be traced back to the deterioration of the legal system. Currently, "justice" goes to the person with the deepest pockets.
Need I remind you that some people insist that has already happened, in 2000?
Also, why are the only people willing to defend our open border policy COC flunkies and restaurant owners?
Doesn't this just serve to demonstrate the intellectual vacuity of their morally and intellectually bankrupt argument?
Not that their brief was any less persuasive than the one proffered by that nitwit Tamar Jacoby, I'm sure.
Why on earth do conservatives allow that obnoxious liberal to monopolize conservative platforms?
/Cease tirade/
