Tancredo Throws Punches at Bush
Human Events ^ | February 9 2006 | Robert B. Bluey

Posted on 02/09/2006 12:18:44 PM PST by Reagan Man

Rep. Tom Tancredo (R.-Colo.) didn’t hold back in his criticism of President Bush this morning at the Conservative Political Action Conference—delivering what amounted to a presidential stump speech that could have easily been delivered in New Hampshire or Iowa.

Tancredo attacked the administration for its support of a guest-worker program for illegal aliens and its big-spending ways on education and Medicare prescription drugs.

“It is the President who is out of step with his party, not Tom Tancredo,” the Colorado Republican said to applause at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Northwest Washington, D.C.

Tancredo called for the repeal of two programs offered by President Bush: the No Child Left Behind Act and the Medicare prescription drug program. Both expanded the cost of government and drew the scorn of conservatives in Congress.

Tancredo said the Big Government policies of the Bush administration need to be halted. He said conservatives must return the GOP to a “party of individual rights and shouldn’t afraid to say it.”

I think it's a great idea and I like him a whole lot better than Salazar (even though I have no say in the matter)...

"I include the Canadian border. Lots of Muslims there to slip into Detroit... their American mecca."

It may be, but far less egregious than the obvious NON enforcement of the Mexican Border of millions. Now we have Gangs like MS-13 to worry about as well.

"McCain will not go democrat, as per DH."

I'd say it's 50/50. It's the meglomaniac's best shot.

He was on the fence last year.

For some reason you keep running from the question: if you make a mutual promise with someone that both of you depend on, and the other guy breaks it, you still consider yourself obligated to him?

Kind of ironic that you're dishonestly avoiding it in an attempt to paint someone else as dishonest.

I agree with your DH. McCain won't go Dim. If Hillary manages to steal the Dim nomination, McCain would likely be seen as the guy to beat her, then become the Republican nominee and probably win the presidency by merely being the lesser of two jackasses.

I'm sorry, but I'm not interested in your imaginary hypothetical situations. If you'd like to make your ethical dilemma somewhat more concrete by explaining who it is Lil' Tommy made his mutual promise with, and the details of how it all worked out, we can talk. Until then, I see no reason to entertain what appears thus far to be a fantasy.

It wasn't a bilateral agreement. Tancredo made a unilateral promise to the electorate at large and then junked it for the sake of power because SOME of his constituents wanted him to. That's the same logic politicians from both democracies and dictatorships use to stay in power --- "the people want me to". Lame, really, and proof that Tom is just another cynical pol. OK, fine -- if you are just another cynical pol, at least get some useful legislation passed to help solve problems rather than be a useless gadfly.

You'd like that, huh?

I crticize Ford on a daily basis also. GM and Chrysler also stink. I do, however, wear a Republican cloth coat.

More insults from the divisive gallery. Deceitful, too, but what the hey ...
