Rep. Tom Tancredo (R.-Colo.) didnt hold back in his criticism of President Bush this morning at the Conservative Political Action Conferencedelivering what amounted to a presidential stump speech that could have easily been delivered in New Hampshire or Iowa.
Tancredo attacked the administration for its support of a guest-worker program for illegal aliens and its big-spending ways on education and Medicare prescription drugs.
It is the President who is out of step with his party, not Tom Tancredo, the Colorado Republican said to applause at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Northwest Washington, D.C.
Tancredo called for the repeal of two programs offered by President Bush: the No Child Left Behind Act and the Medicare prescription drug program. Both expanded the cost of government and drew the scorn of conservatives in Congress.
Tancredo said the Big Government policies of the Bush administration need to be halted. He said conservatives must return the GOP to a party of individual rights and shouldnt afraid to say it.
Even a acorn grows into a might oak.
Tancredo is standing on principle. Maybe others will join him.
The President is lying in a chaise lounge as another 1000 illegals rampage across the border SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THIS THREAD.
Hey Trav -- be THE man and do it!
Sorry. That is a royal cop-out. I'm mostly concerned about the WOT too. It is and it should be the #1 priority for Bush&Company. But the President shouldn't overlook other issues. This isn't WWII, which consumed most of FDR`s time and effort, and which spent 85%-90% of the annual budget on national defense. There are other areas of concern for this President.
>>>>I am not going to weaken him by constantly carping about those things I don't agree with.
That's the way I felt more or less, during Bush`s first four years in office. Last year, the s**t hit the fan. There are too many issues that conservatives believe in and stand for, that are being tossed aside. We can fight a war and still take care of other priorities at the same time. In the world of the 21st century, that is known as multitasking.
>>>>My main goal is the survival of this nation
America is strong and America will survive. Pushing aside issues like immigration reform, spending reform and limited government is wrong. They're are major goals and objectives to keeping this nation a bastion of freedom and liberty.
OK, then nothing will get done. Happy with the status quo?
OK, I won't "laud" him for it. It's not what I consider his prime qualification anyway.
Hi, Miss Marple...
You know what? I butted into this thread because I cared, but on the other hand...Ah... we give what we can; recently, mine hasn't been much.
It would be really neat if we could all just be sitting on a couch with some snacks and tea, coffee, whatever...I don't think there would be anywhere near the arguments that there are, if people just had the chance to sit face to face.
Which is why I hope to attend CPAC next year. :)
Take care...
(arasina bows out, embarrassed to have been thinking it may have come to fisticuffs) :o)
You need to come on home to the Day in the Life thread and abandon these losers. After a day babysitting, you deserve some peace.
There's SIX guys on that cover (which one is Pookie?)
Oh, whereas lying to the sixth district in Colorado isn't an injustice to them, since they're not Americans or something. Got it. And if you think that the American people weren't ready to forgive Clintoon, you're delusional - still doesn't make it right, though.
Once again, if you make a mutual promise with someone that both of you depend on, and the other guy breaks it, you still consider yourself obligated to him?
Show me where that happened to Lil' Tommy. Who did he make a mutual promise with? Do you imagine that, sometime in the early '90's, Marty Meehan made a mutual promise with Tom Tancredo, private citizen, that Marty would abide by term limits, and Tom Tancredo, private citizen, would also abide by term limits if he someday got elected?
LOL.
If your meds don't do the trick, I'm under no illusions about my ability to persuade you to see reality.
You may consider me as having taken a "cop out" position. I consider you as being a nit-picker and ignoring the nation's priority.
No point in further discussion.
The cutest and most studly one of course!
OBSTENSIBLY?? OH NO, NOT THAT!! Why didn't you say so in the first place? I have no idea what "OBSTENSIBLY" means, but it's a big word so it must mean Tancredo supporters have outsmarted his detractors!
Right you are. I'm outta here.
You too, Mike. :)
You know what? You made me smile so much, I gotta add another smiley, so here goes: :)
;)
Truly, your logic is breathtaking.
He's the one with *M*I*N*E* nail-etched on his back, POOKIE. 8^P
I agree, go run and hide. LOL
