Rep. Tom Tancredo (R.-Colo.) didnt hold back in his criticism of President Bush this morning at the Conservative Political Action Conferencedelivering what amounted to a presidential stump speech that could have easily been delivered in New Hampshire or Iowa.
Tancredo attacked the administration for its support of a guest-worker program for illegal aliens and its big-spending ways on education and Medicare prescription drugs.
It is the President who is out of step with his party, not Tom Tancredo, the Colorado Republican said to applause at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Northwest Washington, D.C.
Tancredo called for the repeal of two programs offered by President Bush: the No Child Left Behind Act and the Medicare prescription drug program. Both expanded the cost of government and drew the scorn of conservatives in Congress.
Tancredo said the Big Government policies of the Bush administration need to be halted. He said conservatives must return the GOP to a party of individual rights and shouldnt afraid to say it.
it's a matter of degrees.
IF I am loaning you my car, it's because I know you and you would be my friend.
He was elected to stand in his principles. He then turned around and we against his stated principle of term limits.
It's a matter of degrees I guess.
and he still isn't Presidential material. At least it appears that Tancredo knows it. That's a good thing.
-Jack Bauer doesn't miss. If he didn't hit you it's because he was shooting at another terrorist twelve miles away.
-Jack Bauer brings a knife to a gun fight and always wins.
As a matter of fact...no. Too much flailing for me. If you can't prove it, why bother?
"he'd be better off working with the President on passing legislation instead of posturing"
What Bush proposes is just as bad as nothing at all!
Bush is out to lunch totally, campaign finance, no child left behind, drug benefit, illegal aliens, and spending like a druken sailor.
Compasionate conservative is just another way of saying i'm a socialist!
There you go.....
again it's a matter of degrees.
Christ man why are you attacking Tancredo so hard? You just listed practically his whole view on the issue. And Id hate to break it to you but Bush is not proposing what he is proposing as part of a plan to incrementally move immigration to where we would like it.
LOL. Good luck with that, really.
Not the same at all, because lying to the American people definitely was an injustice to the American people. Once again, if you make a mutual promise with someone that both of you depend on, and the other guy breaks it, you still consider yourself obligated to him?
I'm NOT attacking his views.
Get it right.
I AM attacking his lame attempt at gaining the Presidential nomination.
He's not the antichrist either!
Look, I want the borders sealed and will, to my dying day, KNOW that the most golden of opportunity was missed on 9/12/01, but Tancredo is as impotent as a gelded horsie.
He has a very small following, yet he praised and worshipped as the Savior here, which is pathetic and laughable!
I have repeatedly mentioned that Travis McGee should run for US Congress. He's in the right district and I know him in person. I can guarantee that he would get the female vote on his looks alone!
Lol, what???
"You make a good point. I have wondered what is REALLY going on with Mexico...not that I will know any time soon."
Lemme give you both a hint:
THE BORDER HAS BEEN A SIEVE SINCE 9/11. MILLIONS OF UNREGISTERED ILLEGAL HAVE INVADED AMERICAN SOVEREIGNTY WITH IMPUNITY -- SOON TO OBSTENSIBLY BE GIVEN AMNESTY.
Americans are the ones being "misdirected." OR rather bamboozled.
As for my service, as some have been so insistent on pointing out, I will say that I was over in Iraq as a contractor.
Well they are idiots, as far as I'm concerned. You went over there into an incredibly dangerous war zone... if you weren't there fighting, you were there rebuilding, which we have all seen is just as dangerous. So again, I thank you.
It really sucks that I have to say that right off of the bat because some just love to assume such things.
Agreed--It sure does. Hey, has any keyboard cowboy who criticizes you actually been over there? ...I thought not. ;)
His message isn't the problem, it's the lack of heat he is getting on that message. At least for me.
Shoot, I'd vote for Condi (Guiliani/Condi is my dream ticket), but she'll probably not get through the primaries, based on what I've read here.
You must not be in Toronto or in Ontario huh? :) I say that mainly because it isn't every day that a mayor of a town that a person gave up his citizenship too would write to the Pentagon.
Right on both counts...;)
I'll be in touch re freepmail, with links to my articles.
Hey...at least with my small "power" I was able to take out the anti-American cr*p out of the Canadian press in my article. I did research and put the US side in. :)
hehe. ;)
15 minutes later: PS, Mike, I have spent 20 minutes trying to fix this html post... I can't anymore. I am at the breaking point. Sorry, everyone, about the unfixed italics, etc. I need to go to bed now. And it's only 9 pm. Suffice it to say that working in a newspaper is a high stress job, no matter how much you love it. :)
I don't think there was anything in my post that was all that hard to understand.
Now we can add "cowardly" to "mundane," "unoriginal" and "smearmongering" in updating our list of inquest's attributes.
And if the people of Tancredo's district elected him to a fourth term, it's because they've gotten to know him and decided he's a solid ally of theirs.
Ahem.
heh it's ok :)
Have a good night :)
He most assuredly is yours and I'm thrilled about it!
had he truly been there on his principles, he would have turned them down.
Sorry, that's the way I see it.
I don't necessarily hold it against him, but it's NOTHING to be lauded either.
