Tancredo Throws Punches at Bush
Human Events ^ | February 9 2006 | Robert B. Bluey

Posted on 02/09/2006 12:18:44 PM PST by Reagan Man

Rep. Tom Tancredo (R.-Colo.) didn’t hold back in his criticism of President Bush this morning at the Conservative Political Action Conference—delivering what amounted to a presidential stump speech that could have easily been delivered in New Hampshire or Iowa.

Tancredo attacked the administration for its support of a guest-worker program for illegal aliens and its big-spending ways on education and Medicare prescription drugs.

“It is the President who is out of step with his party, not Tom Tancredo,” the Colorado Republican said to applause at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Northwest Washington, D.C.

Tancredo called for the repeal of two programs offered by President Bush: the No Child Left Behind Act and the Medicare prescription drug program. Both expanded the cost of government and drew the scorn of conservatives in Congress.

Tancredo said the Big Government policies of the Bush administration need to be halted. He said conservatives must return the GOP to a “party of individual rights and shouldn’t afraid to say it.”

... And with what do you disagree with Tancredo? ...

Me? I like the guy and am glad he's out there. Its the FR disruptor's in the guise of conservatives that bothers me. They, (you), will go to any lengths to pit one republican against another.

You seem to say that a lot. Are you a "Islam is a religion of peace" guy?

This is about Tancredo, not me.

There are two explanations for his remark about Mecca:

1) Tancredo's too dense to realize that even hypothetical talk about destroying THE religious shrine for one billion people is wildly reckless.

2) Tancredo's the craftiest guy around; he knows that talking about "nuking Mecca" will be wildly popular with the "let's kill all the ragheads" crowd that largely make up his base.

Of course. He is at least at a political function bringing up ideas that are germain to the political climate...

...and yes, we need to protect the sovereignty of this nation, or Mexico will no longer have the ability to exist as a nation, because they are the parasite, we are the host.

As well as other nations that receive a free ride at our expense...

I just KNEW you would use the world "vapid" in your response.

Have some more wins. No one will go broke betting on your vapidity, cluelessness, and all-around lack of argument.

But you can take comfort in knowing that you're not as stupid as the one who's betting against you on on all of this.

"Well, Reagan did sign it, and he often used his veto pen. What does that tell you?"

It tells me either Reagan didn't want to maintain the status quo, was possibly ignorant of the failure it would turn out to be (but Bush wants to try the same thing) or maybe it had a veto-proof majority from a democratic congress.

History is full of populists who burst onto the scene with all the sound and fury they can muster for their one and only issue, and then end up disappearing without so much as a ripple on the surface. You want to hitch your wagon to the flavor of the month, be my guest, but let's not pretend that carrying one district is a mandate to speak for the nation.

Colorado is as affected by illegal immigration as California to Texas.

The team that worked for Bush in '00 have moved over to McCain (already) to help him prepare for '08. To me that signals the RNC is trying to give us one candidate in '08 as they tried to do in '00 before McCain muddied their waters.

"Still doesn't make Tancredo a viable Presidential candidate, which is STILL the crux of my arguement.

He is still UNELECTABLE."

Even Tancredo has said that. If he runs for president, it will only be to try to move other republicans to the right on immigration. Tancredo has been very clear on this.

Cluelessness is not understanding how it is that someone whose views are reviled by the entire political establishment might just have a few difficulties getting the word out about himself. Enjoy wallowing in it.

And enjoy whatever other Monopoly money you'll get from predicting that you'd get called on it once again.

The GOP is in need of a re-charge and fresh blood like Coburn and Tancredo.

Coburn is not sponsoring Tancredo's legislation in the Senate.

Coburn also stepped down from his House seat after three terms as he pledged to his constituents he would.

"Its the FR disruptor's in the guise of conservatives that bothers me. They, (you), will go to any lengths to pit one republican against another."

We've always had a disagreement within the realm of "Conservative" vs. Party.

I'm a Conservative first.

A Conservative would secure the border and register ALL illegals. Do away with pork. Be fiscally responsible. Pound the RATS into submission...

Factions of GOP play politics instead of putting country first.

If THAT means "pitting" Pubbie against Pubbie, so be it.

Choose power or principle.

I haven't developed a following of sycophantic toadies who will post my every utterance.

But I'm working on it.

ROFLMAO!

Just blame everything on the Jews (Buchanan) or on Mexicans (Tancredo) and you'll have one soon enough.

That is true, Colorado is effected by immigration. But how can Tancredo know what is happening at the border and serve his own district?

I mean, I've heard of gerrymandering, but that is ridiculous.

"as he pledged to his constituents he would."

If Tancredo's constituents really cared, would they not have voted him out? Keep grasping for those straws.

"Coburn is not sponsoring Tancredo's legislation in the Senate."

He is "fresh blood" though, intent on disrupting the ridiculous Pork status quo.
