Rep. Tom Tancredo (R.-Colo.) didnt hold back in his criticism of President Bush this morning at the Conservative Political Action Conferencedelivering what amounted to a presidential stump speech that could have easily been delivered in New Hampshire or Iowa.
Tancredo attacked the administration for its support of a guest-worker program for illegal aliens and its big-spending ways on education and Medicare prescription drugs.
It is the President who is out of step with his party, not Tom Tancredo, the Colorado Republican said to applause at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Northwest Washington, D.C.
Tancredo called for the repeal of two programs offered by President Bush: the No Child Left Behind Act and the Medicare prescription drug program. Both expanded the cost of government and drew the scorn of conservatives in Congress.
Tancredo said the Big Government policies of the Bush administration need to be halted. He said conservatives must return the GOP to a party of individual rights and shouldnt afraid to say it.
I suppose we should be grateful that Tancredo's enemies aren't breaking promises to avoid arson and elder abuse, lest Tommy feel compelled to follow suit.
"Tancredo attacked the administration for its support of a guest-worker program for illegal aliens and its big-spending ways on education and Medicare prescription drugs."
What not to like?
"Three, it doesn't matter, Tancredo doesn't get a vote on judges any more than I do. And I can tell you that I didn't issue a press release."
But as a congressman, and you could do it too, he can write Specter and ask him to ask a certain question. And no one would read a press release you put out, and you know it. So spare me from having to respond to something idiotic like "well, no one reads Tancredo's neither" because obviously people here, including you, do.
Well, Reagan did sign it, and he often used his veto pen. What does that tell you?
Alrightie Mike, we're all caught up and you're waiting for the next stupid post. Well, here it is; lets stop baggin' on Tanc and lets stop taking the lures of the master baiters. Attack them back, not those national figures which they would have us attack.
That's unfortunate.
To build upon my earlier example, had I been of voting age in '76 I would have gladly voted for Ford, though Reagan was the better choice. Always take the best you can get.
I am proud of president Bush. I just see him as more like his pappy than the Gipper. Pappy pi##ed away what the gipper gave him.
...and I don't know enough about Tancredo to speculate on his up-or-down sides.
Actually, you mean Chertoff, not Chernoff. Chernoff was a famous probabilist who proved an incredibly useful inequality for independent random variables.
woohoo!!
that's $60!
I just KNEW you would use the world "vapid" in your response.
Of course. When you make clueless statements, it's pretty easy for most people to predict what they answer's going to be.
And in your case, what's also predictable is that you have nothing of substance to say in response.
Talk is cheap. Bush`s statements aside, most people understand that Bush wants amnesty. Backdoor amnesty in the guise of a guest worker program. Frankly, I doubt there will be any immigration reform as long as GWBush is POTUS.
Instead Bush will settle for the status quo. Wide open borders, that allow over one million illegals to enter the US every year. Giving a pass to employers who violate the law in hiring illegals. And political pandering to Hispanic's, in the hopes that members of that community will vote for the GOP in 2006, 2008 and beyond.
I've come to the realization, PresBush doesn't care about immigration reform and his inaction over the last five years is proof positive. PROOF POSITIVE!
awww
but it's so much more fun the other way :-)
True. I haven't developed a following of sycophantic toadies who will post my every utterance.
But I'm working on it.
"What has Tancredo done, besides update his website?"
And who has more power? Bush or Tancredo?
Tancredo is playing the same political game as the Dems. Find whatever fault can be found with Bush policies and then bet on things going wrong for the country. So far as I can see, he has not provided important help in getting anything done in the last five years, and will not get support for the Republican nomination, much less enough support to win a presidential election. JMHO
About his 6-year "guest-worker" proposal for illegal who've already broken the law NOT being "amnesty?"
Yep.
Considering Tancredo only has one thing to do (Hint: that has nothing to do with his district.) then you would think he would have been able to go at least 1 for 1 on that.
LOL
what's clueless in saying the guy can't get elected President?
chances are I'm 100% correct.
What's clueless in asking YOU, specifically when you say that he shares the same views as "75-80% of the voting population", WHY he won't get elected and cannot get past that magical 1% barrier.
But you keep hemming, hawing and insulting.
It's very telling.
And it's what I come to these threads for.
That and the $60 I've won off of you tonight.
bookmarked, for a good laugh later...
