Rep. Tom Tancredo (R.-Colo.) didnt hold back in his criticism of President Bush this morning at the Conservative Political Action Conferencedelivering what amounted to a presidential stump speech that could have easily been delivered in New Hampshire or Iowa.
Tancredo attacked the administration for its support of a guest-worker program for illegal aliens and its big-spending ways on education and Medicare prescription drugs.
It is the President who is out of step with his party, not Tom Tancredo, the Colorado Republican said to applause at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Northwest Washington, D.C.
Tancredo called for the repeal of two programs offered by President Bush: the No Child Left Behind Act and the Medicare prescription drug program. Both expanded the cost of government and drew the scorn of conservatives in Congress.
Tancredo said the Big Government policies of the Bush administration need to be halted. He said conservatives must return the GOP to a party of individual rights and shouldnt afraid to say it.
It's called "Principle over Power" -- an apparent foreign concept to the smoky backroom whores of the GOP.
To bay buchanan.
Don't delude yourself, the 'conservative' fifth columnists will react similarly to any, even semi-viable candidate.
Most conservative who can WIN should be the criteria....
LOL! No, seriously, who are you really? His campaign manager? Some sort of staffer or legislative aide? Because I can't for the life of me imagine some regular joe even attempting to make this argument, the one whereby it's okay to be a liar so long as everyone around you is a liar too. I mean really, was his term-limit promise made to his enemies, or to his constituents? Can he even tell the difference between the two any more, or has he been hanging around the den of iniquity so long that it's incumbent upon him to be the most iniquitous one of all?
how accurate could it have been?
For all we know, Tancredo prevented the mega-volcano in Wyoming from erupting too!!
Keep going though, as I said, I could use a couple $$Hundred$$ more from betting on your responses. It's just so predictable.
And Tancredo STILL isn't electable.
I;m talking about FR.
And I also worry that his name recognition off of forums like FR is virtually NIL.
Because you get to maximize the disruption to the republican party is the more apropo reason.
He's got my vote.
Agreed. But that's what we got last time and now we are all bitching about new programs and out of control spending and open boarders. These problems with W were clear from the get-go. We need somebody to step up that will cut taxes and spending, stay on the offense in foreign policy, continue strengthening the military, close the boarder and toss out the illegals (economy be damned), make the 2A the actual law of the land, tort reform, endorse term limits for Congress, and mow my lawn. (My version of the wish list in Shooting Times)
You say things like that a lot. I don't question the worthiness of a post, but I do question your ability, especially as representative of a 'conservative'.
Isn't JD supporting Tancredo in his quest?
Look at his join date, you're attacking one of your own 'fifth columnists'. Just call him a troll and resume your facade.
I don't think we need to take the attitude of "economy be damned".
I am pretty certain that's a way to defeat just by saying it.
What's the alternative? There isn't a viable 3rd party, and there are plenty of viable options within the GOP, but they need to be convinced to run for it.
Tancredo isn't one of those.
He's already started. Last week the State Senator from our district was on our local radio station and arranged a call-in from Tancredo where they gave him a full hour on the phone to really lay out what is going on at the border.
Therein lies the rub! Its called 'the big picture'. Neither you nor I nor most of FR understand why, yet; yet I voted for and am committed to the president. He's done a bang up good job with the economy, employment, wars and done it with the worst vitriol a president has experienced since Tricky Dicky. He sees the big picture, and I hope he sees it more clearly than we do. He often misdirects with his left while he accomplishes with his right.
I missed it Sink. Would a link be possible?
Boy, you're losing it now, just wait 'til you get to my posts ...
I don't need to make the case that Reagan Man is a liar; it's self-evident. He stated that George Bush is in favor of amnesty; everyone on this board knows Bush has stated he's against amnesty.
Reagan Man's own words convict him of lying about the President. Calling him a liar is like calling a cloudless sky blue.
