Rep. Tom Tancredo (R.-Colo.) didnt hold back in his criticism of President Bush this morning at the Conservative Political Action Conferencedelivering what amounted to a presidential stump speech that could have easily been delivered in New Hampshire or Iowa.
Tancredo attacked the administration for its support of a guest-worker program for illegal aliens and its big-spending ways on education and Medicare prescription drugs.
It is the President who is out of step with his party, not Tom Tancredo, the Colorado Republican said to applause at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Northwest Washington, D.C.
Tancredo called for the repeal of two programs offered by President Bush: the No Child Left Behind Act and the Medicare prescription drug program. Both expanded the cost of government and drew the scorn of conservatives in Congress.
Tancredo said the Big Government policies of the Bush administration need to be halted. He said conservatives must return the GOP to a party of individual rights and shouldnt afraid to say it.

I didn't dispute that, I just asked WHY he can't break the 1% barrier.....
You can't seem to answer that.
I have the answer for you.
Tancredo ISN'T a good candidate.
I don't dispute what he says RE: Illegal immigration anymore. It's a growing and unchecked problem. But he isn't a good candidate. he won't win ANYTHING. And I think he knows it too.

It shows a lack of judgement to respond to hypothetical situations with an apocalyptic remark.I think it shows a lack of judgment for any politician to respond to a hypothetical situation, period.
Then Reagan must have been completely bereft of judgment, for him to have signed on to that apocalyptic Mutual-Assured Destruction "hypothetical scenario".

It shows a lack of judgement to respond to hypothetical situations with an apocalyptic remark. Not necessarily. Politicians make these remarks all the time. Only when they're members of the Republican Party do they get called upon it by MSM/Democratic party hypocrites.
Tancredo gave a refreshingly un-PC reply. I know that you're more used to the obligatory Neville Chamberlainesque response that you'd get out of most Pubbies, sinky.

Either you truly don't understand (in which case I'd seriously have to wonder about your IQ), or are just pretending not to understand how it is that when someone is so at odds with the entire political establishment, it's nearly impossible for him to get coverage, and to get funding from the party apparatus. No coverage, no name recognition. No name recognition, no support.
By the way, Tancredo has said that that if someone more electable steps forward to carry his same platform (which you just acknowledged has wide public support), he'd step aside. So anyone who's just unenamored with Tancredo himself simply needs to get to work finding an alternative. Anyone left is simply using opposition to him as a cover for opposition to his platform.

Not so fast with your $20. The IQ slam only applies if you truly don't understand the concept here. Do you or don't you?

By the way, Tancredo has said that that if someone more electable steps forward to carry his same platform (which you just acknowledged has wide public support), he'd step aside. Ah, but he's far too important to the country to ever do anything like abide by his promises. Just ask him. That's why he's in his fourth term despite promising to step down after only three terms, because of how seriously Tommy takes it when he makes a promise.

Whatever. Feel free to pretend you're not fleeing the field.

Another one who's sore that Tancredo isn't playing by Queensbury rules. No biggie there.
Tell you what - put him to the test. Put forward a more electable candidate who'll push the same platform, and see what he does.

fleeing the field....
you make it sound like it's a war or something.
It isn't.
Maybe that's what I find funny about these threads.

Tancredo doesn't have the votes to get his Bill passed. Nothing wrong with speaking out, but if he actually wants to improve on the status quo (not too difficult), then he'd be better off working with the President on passing legislation instead of posturing. Instead, he's going to find himself out of the room when the deals are cut. "In the beginning of a change the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot." - Mark Twain, 1904
