Glocks can have kB! problems, but if this is the incident I recall, the Portland PD was using +P ammo, which (surprise!) the Glock manual warns against. Yeah. Real smart. Using +P ammo...........I'll bet you might find some +P+ too
RTFM, ya dumbs***s.
Ditto That!

They should be carrying 1911's.

"I guess the bottom line is that the lawyers will go after any company that isn't bankrupt yet. They have liability insurance and assets to go after." Business Law 101 - 25 years ago, I remember the first thing the liberal puke teacher said: "Always dig into the deepest pockets."

Bureaucrats are afraid of issuing single-action autos. Afraid someone might hurt themselves.

Lawyers don't like to sue unless there is a big pot of gold waiting for them at the end of the rainbow.

I'll bet he was fireing department reloads and that caused the malfunction. He's suing Federal because that was the brass used for the reload.

If he was using wrong ammunition for the gun (or wrong gun for the ammunition), well then all he can do is sue himself, I suppose.
To: Supernatural
Or unless there is an ideological axe to grind (e.g. the ACLU comes up with a goodly number of losers every year). Guns Are Evil is a liberal mantra.
To: HiTech RedNeck
Heck, any liberal lawyer would be more than happy to sue a gun manufacturer or any company involved in any way in the firearms industry, like cartridge manufactures. No doubt the ACLU would be more than happy to pitch in and help.

If this is the same guy...... after some investigation into this incident they found that he had modified the gun with a ported barrel but left the same slide on the gun that did have the port holes for the gases to escape. He fired the gun and the frame broke. After the incident he replaced the ported barrel with the original one which was obvious because there was no damage, but burn marks on the inside of the frame.

"They should be carrying 1911's. "That's my main choice, but I believe that many/most PD's dislike them, and possibly with some valid reasons. They like mostly double-action only. I believe that 1911's might be a little much for female officers, although I am going to take a lot of heat for that. I am aware that MANY ladies can and do handle them well! And the alternative choices in .40 SW and .357 SIG, both in the smaller 9mm frame, are very adequate.

Glocks are very tough pistols. I think you are right, the guy monkeyed with the gun and brought the problem on himself. Now he is trying to get rich.
And in front of an average jury of cheeseheads, he just might do it.

A lot of women couldn't even handle a .40, so some departments made everyone switch back to 9mm's. A .45 would be out of the question for most women. The recoil frightens them, but most could probably handle it with a lot of practice.

Right. Federal makes +P+ ammo for police depts. And those pressures push their HydraShocks at magnum velocities (up around 1500ft per sec). Lots of bang on both ends.

Might succeed in getting a judge to kick it out of court before it gets to that point.

I have never heard of +P+ in .45ACP, even for cops, but, I'm not a cop.
