Putin Rejects Suspension of Aid to Hamas-Run PA 20:21 Feb 08, '06 / 10 Shevat 5766

(IsraelNN.com) In an interview with Spanish media, published today, Russian President Vladimir Putin reiterated his objection to suspending aid to the Palestinian Authority, regardless of the Hamas terrorist organization's position there. Putin is beginning a two-day state visit to Spain today.

"It would be a big mistake to suspend aid to the Palestinians," the Russian leader said. "If we stop helping simple Palestinian citizens, are we going to eradicate terrorism and criminality? Of course not."

Putin added that while Hamas is "considered as terrorist by the whole European community, [it] has assumed power in legitimate fashion." Unlike the EU and the US, Russia does not classify Hamas as a terrorist group.

That's not good. That is like the Khrushchev strategy that he laid out in the 60's. Andropov tried to do it, but his death and Ronald Reagan got in it's way. Now, Putin, Andropov's protoge, is trying to complete the Khrushchev strategy.

I guess the same could be said about aiding the Chechens, right Vladimir? Sheesh, what a stinking hypocrite!

Putin had a lot of money in Saddam's oil bank and we are the ones who pulled the plug on that profit. What appears to be going on is one long prolonged pay back using terrorists on one front and oil and gas on the other.

If Hamas-run PA had oil they just might get a Russian trade for nuclear.

Of course not, indeed. I suspect Hamas will stay terrorist no matter what we do.

On the other hand, I never found paying money to criminals and terrorists to be a good way to stop crime and terrorism either.

This, plus the UN/EU 'apology' for the 'offensive' cartoons, appalls me.

Evil is not just triumphing, it's doing so on our dime.

"Putin is hard to comprehend. He calls his domestic terrorists "rats", while he continues to lend support to Hamas and Iran."

Actually, he's easy to get. His domestic terrorism is fake. Putin is the main supporter of terrorism in the world; the Soviet Union practically created modern terrorism in the 20th century.

The Russians still mainly run it.

That's why they provide Iran with nuclear power plants and intercontinental ballistic missiles.

"How much aid does Russia give to the Palestinians? I'll bet not much."

Russia created Arafat. See Pacepa (Red Horizons).

Putin gets all hot and bothered if anyone sympathizes with Chechens, but these HAMAS fellows on the other hand, no they're "freedom fighters," after all they only kill jews not Russians.==

It his recent interview Putin asked Hamas to accept Israel.

The mujahadeen drove the Russians broke. Unfortunately, the mujahadeen and the other Islamist nutcakes think they also brought the USSR to its end. This is where they were wrong. The USSR failed because it is a socialist state and didn't harness the energy of capitalism.==

Russians are not Soviets. And mudjahadeens didn't drove Soviets broke. They accually lost 1.5 mlns against soviet 15000 casualties. 100:1.
Soviet Union failed because of Gorby the first russian national in charge of Soviet Union.

Soviet Union wasn't Russia. Putin is Russian president not Soviet Union'.
The world terrorism surged when Soviet Union disappeared. United States not USSR practically created Osama since he fought with Soviets in Afganistan.
