The ATF now says all nine fires appear to be related. At each crime scene, the fire starter used things that were easy to catch fire in the church such as flowers or flags near the alter. "this is ugly criminal behavior," says ATF Agent Jim Cavanaugh.
Investigators say they have new evidence and maybe even some witnesses. Cavanaugh says, "The things that we seem to consistently hear and seem to make sense to us is that we have two white males. We have had multiple reports of that and we have had multiple reports of SUVs."
An ATF agent on the scene says whoever did this was up all night and may have signs of burns on the hands. Cavanaugh adds "We have got a lot of good evidence in there and this fire is clearly and obviously an arson fire."
The fire Marshall is asking to sheriff's in West Alabama to increase patrols.
Authorities are asking for the public's help in this case. The FBI has launched a special tip line. The number is 1-877-628-2533. And Alfa Insurance is offering up to a $37,500 dollar reward for information leading to a conviction.
"The following is a poem written by Judge Roy Moore from Alabama. Judge Moore was sued by the ACLU for displaying the Ten Commandments in his courtroom foyer. He has been stripped of his judgeship and now they are trying to strip his right to practice law in Alabama. The judge's poem sums it up quite well.
America the Beautiful,
or so you used to be.
Land of the Pilgrims' pride;
I'm glad they'll never see.
Babies piled in dumpsters,
Abortion on demand,
Oh, sweet land of liberty;
your house is on the sand.
Our children wander aimlessly
poisoned by cocaine,
Choosing to indulge their lusts,
when God has said abstain.
From sea to shining sea,
our Nation turns away
From the teaching of God's love
and a need to always pray.
We've kept God in our temples,
how callous we have grown.
When earth is but His footstool,
and Heaven is His throne.
We've voted in a government
that's rotting at the core,
Appointing Godless Judges
who throw reason out the door,
Too soft to place a killer
in a well deserved tomb,
But brave enough to kill a baby
before he leaves the womb.
You think that God's not angry,
that our land's a moral slum?
How much longer will He wait
before His judgment comes?
How are we to face our God,
from Whom we cannot hide?
What then is left for us to do,
but stem this evil tide?
If we who are His children,
will humbly turn and pray;
Seek His holy face
and mend our evil way:
Then God will hear from Heaven
and forgive us of our sins,
He'll heal our sickly land
and those who live within.
But, America the Beautiful,
if you don't - then you will see,
A sad but Holy God
withdraw His hand from Thee."
...
Well, that's a relief. I was worried for nothing.
Probably a fan of his...........
When you read the, "if they were black churches...", remarks it sounds like we have our own race baiters right here on Free Republic. What difference does it make if they were "White" or "Black" churches? You'd think FReepers would be upset with the fact that any churches were burning in America, unfortunately some are as good at race-baiting as Jesse and Al.
I agrre 100%, and then some...
Yep ... some just need killin'.
FWIW, I once shot at a moose and meesed.
I too have to ask, Why aren't REV. Jackson and REV. Sharpton making any statements about the burnings of churches?
That said, I have to give CNN and Fox both Kudo's for actually upping thier coverage of the fires the last couple days. CNN has actually spent 2-3 segments on the fires this morning.
I think you are right. Now who would hate Baptists...conservatives...not politically correct...probably involved in fighting against the Left's social agenda... I wonder who hates the Baptists?
Someone who can't cook? or who wasn't invited to last months Spaghetti Supper? :-)
Alabama's eastern border and Georgia's western border are shared in common. These fires are in west central Alabama and some are quite close to the Mississippi border.
I live in the south and I don't see the discrimination, reverse or otherwise that you mention on a daily basis. I was born and raised up north and stationed in both Mississippi and Florida and it's been my experience that the races get along much better down here.
Let me guess. The one who was insulted over their horrible casserole attempt?
We Southern Baptists are also known as the Casserole Baptists.
I think the creator of Aunt Carlotta's cornbread casserole surprise is definately a suspect.
Just kidding!!!!!
Who cares what the MSM would have done? You know, why do we as FReepers condemn the MSM whenever they bash Bush but wait with baited breath to see how they respond to stories like this one? We say they're irrelevant and old media but we're the first ones running to the TV checking CNN to see how they are covering a particular story. If they are as biased as we believe them to be why watch and comment on their coverage? I'm not into the victim syndrome of finding something to be offended by. I'd rather focus on catching these criminals. I'm sure there will be another issue to be offended by, let's not turn this one into another black white story.
I never said you were racist. I don't know you. I was only relating my personal experience.
"There's probably not even 9 mosques in Alabama"
Haven't heard of any in this State.
