Attorney General to Participate in “Live Blog”
Could be First “Blog Hosted Town Hall” by Virginia Statewide Office Holder
Richmond- Virginia Attorney General Bob McDonnell will participate in a unique media event on Wednesday, February 8th. McDonnell will take to the information superhighway from 5-6p.m. to participate in a “live blog” on the popular Virginia blog, Commonwealth Conservative (www.vaconservative.com). This may be the first “Blog Hosted Town Hall” ever held by a statewide office holder in Virginia.
McDonnell noted of the event, “This new electronic web log medium gives me the opportunity to take questions from citizens all across the Commonwealth.” He continued remarking, “The Internet has been an instrument of such revolutionary change in our culture, and this is another example. Now, even though I’m in Richmond, a student in Covington or Chincoteague can ask me a direct question about whatever issue they may be interested in. This kind of positive interaction with elected officials can only strengthen our democracy, and, hopefully, increase public participation in our political process. I’m looking forward to this first ‘live blog’, and I hope to continue this practice throughout my term as Attorney General in order to remain accessible to the citizens of Virginia.”
The purpose of Wednesday’s event is to allow any interested Virginian the opportunity to ask a question of the Attorney General. This will become a regular event for the Attorney General, rotating between various host blogs which are still to be determined. The Office of the Attorney General thanks Commonwealth Conservative for agreeing to host the inaugural event.
