Carter: Still No Clue
New York Post ^ | February 8, 2006 | The Editors

Posted on 02/08/2006 6:03:16 AM PST by RWR8189

Jimmy Carter may or may not have been the worst president of the 20th century — history will have the final word on that — but his disgraceful performance yesterday at Coretta Scott King's funeral marks him as the most shameless. Maybe of all time.

There is, after all, a time and place for everything — but not for Carter.

In a reprehensible (albeit typical) display of tone-deafness, the former president used the funeral of Dr. Martin Luther King's widow to score cheap points against President Bush. (He wasn't alone in that regard, more of which in a bit.)

Carter warmed up by conjuring the outlandish conspiracy theories that still linger from Hurricane Katrina: "We only have to recall the color of the faces of those in Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi who are most devastated by Katrina to know that there are not yet equal opportunities for all Americans."

Then he segued on to the Bush administration.

In what could only be taken as a direct attack on Bush's electronic surveillance of suspected terrorists — a program Carter has repeatedly denounced as "illegal" — the ex-prez said of Mrs. King and her slain husband, Martin Luther King, "they became the targets of secret government wiretapping and other surveillance."

Heaven help us if his son beats Ensign in the senate run this year -- also because we have to listen to Carter as he travels around the USA this year raising money for his son (and trashing the President at every turn).

I think those who say that are doing a great disservice to Slick Willie! And LBJ! And FDR!

I dunno. Unlike Carter, none of those had a 22% prime rate, 14% mortgages, let mullahs take over Iran, and micromanaged a botched Iranian hostage rescue attempt.

I remember that Carter micromanaged the botched Iranian hostage rescue attempt. When the generals briefed him, they said that they planned to "neutralize" the guards at the US embassy. Carter asked them what they meant. Puzzled, they said "kill the guards, of course". He said, "You can't do that. They're students." The generals just rolled their eyes and had to develop an ultra-complex rescue plan that involved transporting and using non-lethal gas to disable the guards.

I will suggest some credentials of the others to be in the running:

FDR

Armed and basically built the military of the USSR.
Fought WWII in a way most advantageous to Stalin and gave him Eastern Europe at the end.
Initiated the present income tax system.
Started Social security.
Initiated socialists government work programs like the CCC, TVA, REA, etc., which was yet another step down the road to socialism.

LBJ

Continued FDR's programs and expanded on them with Medicare and the rest of his Great Society programs.
Micro mismanaged the Vietnam war and gave in to the leftists demonstrators for political purposes and caused our defeat.

Slick Willie

Gave our military technology, especially missile technology, to China.
Made all patents in the U.S. Patent office available for the Chinese and other rogues to steal.
Destroyed the dignity of the office of President.
Repeatedly broke the law including taking secret FBI files and used them against his political opponents, misused the IRS against his political enemies, took campaign contributions from foreigners and foreign governments, lied under oath to a federal court, and too many more things to list.

To add to Carter's resume he also revealed our stealth technology by publicly "letting slip" that we had airplanes that were invisible to radar before anyone knew it.

It is a tough contest but all the others did as grievous things as Carter.

In a moment in history I would like to forget, some friends of mine gave us Jimmy Carter.

In the Republican convention prior to the 1976 election, Ronald Reagan and Gerald Ford were in a tight contest. That was when the nominee was still elected by state delegates. It finally came down to a small group, 11 I think, from Hazelhurst, MS. They went for Ford and proudly display a picture taken with him in their home.

Had they voted for Ronald Reagan we most likely would not have had Jimmy Carter. Ford was too closely connected to Nixon and no matter how wrong it may have been, he had the image of a dumb, clumsy, dolt.

You must be older than me. Clinton turned me to the Republicans. My vote for Clinton in 96 is the last vote I'll cast in my life for a Democrat.

I believe there are few Dems left after Zell Miller, what we have now are Socialist/Liberal pols presenting themselves as Dems. I was born and raised in a democrat family, in a democrate (Irish) neighborhood, but they lost me after Truman.

Maybe the son of Ronald Reagan is just stupid, or maybe ignorant, or maybe he is just mean and a liar.

Jimmy Carter is the worst President this country has every had. They reason we have problems with Iran and the Middle East is the fault of Jimmy Carter. He supports and supported Communist governments around the world. He is anti-American and a disgrace to the American people. And his actions yesterday were disgusting and someone should have told him so. He is scum.

Don't forget that he and Clinton also arranged the "deal" with North Korea, so they wouldn't persue nucular (in deference to Carter) weapons.

That's certainly turned out quite well, hasn't it?
