Carter: Still No Clue
New York Post ^ | February 8, 2006 | The Editors

Posted on 02/08/2006 6:03:16 AM PST by RWR8189

Jimmy Carter may or may not have been the worst president of the 20th century — history will have the final word on that — but his disgraceful performance yesterday at Coretta Scott King's funeral marks him as the most shameless. Maybe of all time.

There is, after all, a time and place for everything — but not for Carter.

In a reprehensible (albeit typical) display of tone-deafness, the former president used the funeral of Dr. Martin Luther King's widow to score cheap points against President Bush. (He wasn't alone in that regard, more of which in a bit.)

Carter warmed up by conjuring the outlandish conspiracy theories that still linger from Hurricane Katrina: "We only have to recall the color of the faces of those in Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi who are most devastated by Katrina to know that there are not yet equal opportunities for all Americans."

Then he segued on to the Bush administration.

In what could only be taken as a direct attack on Bush's electronic surveillance of suspected terrorists — a program Carter has repeatedly denounced as "illegal" — the ex-prez said of Mrs. King and her slain husband, Martin Luther King, "they became the targets of secret government wiretapping and other surveillance."

Jimmy Carter turned me from a Democrat to a Republican.

I see he's still converting moderates into conservatives.

But what does carter think about the officiating in the Super Bowl. I think carter should call for an official investigation into the questionable calls.

"True enough - though Carter couldn't quite bring himself to note that the wire-tapping was conducted under Presidents John Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson, and was originally ordered by Attorney General Robert Kennedy, all Democrats." NYPOST

Jimmy Carter is the worst President this country has every had. They reason we have problems with Iran and the Middle East is the fault of Jimmy Carter. He supports and supported Communist governments around the world. He is anti-American and a disgrace to the American people. And his actions yesterday were disgusting and someone should have told him so. He is scum.

Interesting how such a good "Christian" man can be so mean and petty. It started with his and the Dems vicious attacks on Ronald Reagan, and he hasn't let up.

Can you imagine if GWB, or Bob Dole, or any Republican had used the funerals of Reagan or Richard Nixon as a political platform to attack Carter, Clinton, or any Democrat? The outcry would have been deafening.

I was too young to really be decided when Carter was in office, and way too young to be allowed to vote for any candidate who wasn't a Democrat. However, seeing Jimmy Carter on the same national stage as Ronald Reagan in 1980 sent me in the direction I travel today.

To truly appreciate the pathetic nature of Jimmy Carter, you have to see him occupy space next to a legitimately great human being.

He could certify the Steelers' victory the same way he did Hugo Chavez's election.

Ordered by Kennedy and LBJ. This was after FDR used his wartime powers to round up all Japanese Americans and put them in concentration camps.

It is understandable why the Democrats always suspect that the Republicans are abusing power because that is what the Democrats always do whenever they are in power.

Kudos to the Editorial board at the NY Post. They are almost always spot on... In a bastion of liberalism, they are as conservative as you'll find anywhere in the country.

I hope the "carter center" or whatever it is called is flooded with protest calls... I am ashamed to occupy the same state as this (ahem) man. Even Imus this morning was exposing what a scum-bag he is - while Maureen Dowd defended him !!

No, he would probably suggest that the were the "Super Bowl champions select" and then state that the NFL playoff process is flawed and corrupt, but professional wrestling is certified legitimate.
