Moscow museum to exhibit Mohammed cartoons

MOSCOW, Feb. 7 (UPI) -- A Moscow museum has announced it will exhibit the entire series of cartoons of Mohammed that have caused riots throughout the Islamic world.

Yury Samodurov, director of the Sakharov Museum and Public Center, said on Russian television that the center was ready to organize a public exhibition of the cartoons satirizing the founder of Islam that originally were published in a Danish newspaper, Pravda.ru reported Monday.

"We must show the whole world that Russia goes along with Europe, that the freedom of expression is much more important for us than the dogmas of religious fanatics," Samodurov said.

The exhibition reportedly will open in March. Lawyer Yury Shmidt has said he will invite French philosopher Andre Glucksmann and French novelist Michel Houellebecq to the opening ceremony to read lectures about the threat of Islamic fundamentalism.

In 2003 the Sakharov Museum outraged many Russian Orthodox believers with the art exhibit "Be Careful -- Religion," which many felt was insulting to their beliefs.

Russia would like nothing better than to recieve muslim fanatical protestors. After the last few issues with them the russian will show them how effcient kalashikov's are.

Oh yes, the evil Russians have done away with the gulags, and now just put a bullet in the head right on the street. That Putin really knows how to take care of things. At least this is what Soros and the neocons are telling me.

How will Putin handle the protestors?

In Russia, the protestors kill school kids. And that is a genuine fact.

"How will Putin handle the protestors? This should be fun."

I don't think he cares. The 'protestors' have been revolting for several years now. Perhaps he hopes to smoke some more out.

Logic isn't valued very highly in the Islamic World. This is one--of many--things that the Islamic World and the Leftist World have in common. Both Muslims and Leftists LOVE (and frequently use) fallacies of logic.

Samodurov is "Convicted Criminal" because he believes in a Freedom of Speech and expression, including the right to offend. I'm glad he joined the cartoon campaign against Islamic Fanatics.

For the record, -- I am not incliuned to respond to many one-liner responses, that I think I may be going to get on this, -- to publish these cartoons was a very un-Christian and uncivilized thing to do, and it set back our struggle with Islam.

Civilized nations do not publish blasphemy against any religion. Debating, deporting, or crusading against the Muslims is all fine. Insulting them only reflects badly on ourselves.

Wait, it was that evil Putin who signed the bill into law authorizing the Bible classes.

While the French philosophes were preening and polishing their maxims, the Slavic Dostoyevsky was wrestling in his soul with the issues of faith that plague us to this day.

There is an element of absurdity and iconoclasm in the Slavic soul that make them potentially our true allies in the struggle for civilization.

No, I think the American leftist media aren't publishing the cartoons because they're allies of the islamofacists.

No, I think the american media isn't publishing the cartoons because they are afraid of getting hurt or killed.

"No, I think the american media isn't publishing the cartoons because they are afraid of getting hurt or killed."

But they're plenty 'brave' when it comes to trashing Christianity. Even on holy days such as Easter and Christmas the liberal rags will print anti-Christian stories and publish Catholic-bashing cartoons. When you put the two together, the hatred for Christianity and the fear and respect of islam, it makes my point clear: the liberal msm are allies of islam. It doesn't matter if they bow to islam because they love it or fear it, the end result is that they are bowing.

Offended Christians tend to write letters, maybe protest (ok publicity), or maybe even boycott (ok publicity). Offended Christians might pray for you, but they tend to not kill in significant numbers.

Who told you that Russia shut down the gulags Gary? Their still up and running North Korean slaves work there to keep Russians fat.

Kim sells workers to gulags in debt deal - August 06, 2001! - The spectre of the gulag came to haunt President Kim´s Moscow summit with a report that, in order to service a $5.5 billion (£3.5 billion) Soviet-era debt, he will enlarge a scheme blamed for the torture and summary execution of some of his country´s most desperate refugees.

Russia’s gulags still in business - The camps were supposedly closed down with the end of communism, but reports in Moscow say they continue to exist, with North Korea using the system as a way to pay off its £5.5 billion debt to Russia. "North Korean labour holds the position of a special type of mass quantity product."

And what do "neo-cons" have to do with Soros? Oh I get it. They're both jews. You're saying that neocon jews who run the zionist occupied whitehouse are really in cahoots with Soros. That Russia-worship is really having an effect on you Gary. Too bad you sold your soul and your loyalty to Russia.

Alex, Freelance Warrior. Rather than argue, I'd like to suggest reading a good article . It's a bit long but it's worth reading. Here are a few paragraphs I think are very important.

Political correctness is another of multiculturalism's destructive offshoots, and there are certainly those in the West who would shield Muslim populations from legitimate criticism. But they are actually doing more harm than good. Much-needed reform will never be possible until Muslims learn to withstand examination like everyone else. Islam should be subjected to all the scholarly interpretation, self-reflection, humor and even insult that Western religions experience.

One of the most important and hard-won rights in the West is free speech. When free speech is chipped away in the name of avoiding offense, all else is soon forfeit. Western countries will have to decide where to draw the line -- or find themselves overtaken by tyranny.

Sure, read "Multiculturalism and the Politics of Guilt: Towards a Secular Theocracy" by Paul Gottfried.

I am really amazed that nobody mentioned this book so far.
