Twelve drawings of Muhammad printed in a major Danish newspaper have turned millions of Muslims against Denmark. And one man's mission has transformed the caricatures into the stuff of international diplomacy. The Arab world, though, isn't being given the full story.
It was just twelve simple drawing published in a Danish newspaper. But they have triggered an international relations crisis for Copenhagen -- and potentially the rest of Europe. The drawings depicted the prophet Muhammed, a major no-no for Muslims. The result has been protests and boycotts in the Arab world, and soul searching in Denmark and Europe.
The explosiveness of the tensions between Danes and the Arab World this week drew ugly comparisons to a conflict of civilizations and raised uncomfortable memories of the fatwa issued against author Salman Rushdie in the 1980s over his novel "The Satanic Verses," which Muslim groups claim disparaged their religion's central figure, Muhammad. But Denmark's crisis has been simmering for months.
Islam forbids the depiction of the religion's founder Muhammad, and Muslims in Denmark grew outraged after the Jyllands-Posten newspaper, a major Danish daily, published a series of 12 political cartoons in September that depicted the prophet in various disparaging contexts. When they responded -- through letters to the editor and complaints within the community -- they felt ignored.
One group of Danish Muslims, led by a young imam named Ahmed Akkari, grew so frustrated by the inability of Muslims to get their message across in Denmark that they compiled a dossier of racist and culturally insensitive images circulating in the country and took them on an road show in the Arab World to raise awareness of the discrimination they faced.

I remember when Catholics could not eat meat on Friday. But that didn't mean the whole world could not.
So, if Sharia says that the "profit" can't be depicted that applies to moslems. Such a rule under Sharia is not more binding on non-moslems than any other rule under Sharia.

IOW, we (the non-Muslim untermenschen) are getting what we deserve. The MSM motto seems to be: "One can do no good, the other can do no evil."

The ACLU sees a nativity scene on the courthouse lawn as a bigger danger than the Islamoterrorists.
Somebody posted this earlier on FR.
The Danes are getting back at the Muhammadam wars with a bit of photoshop fun:
Not safe for work:

But I am not a Muslim and therefore the religious restrictions of Islam cannot be imposed on me nor can the law require that they be imposed on me.
I'd boot every last one of these fifth columnists. Send them packing back to their Islamic paradises
Dunno what's there (too slow to load) but does it match the ones drawn by Muslims at this website (this is what really got the Muslims riled up, not the original Danish ones):
Gateway Pundit: Islamic Society of Denmark Used Fake Cartoons to Create Story!
http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2006/02/islamic-society-of-denmark-used-fake.html
Apparently the 12 original cartoons weren't getting anyone very upset. So three additional very offensive cartoons were drawn...Mohammed as a pedophile, Mohammed with a pig snout, a dog copulating with a Moslem at prayer....(all pictured on the website)
These were added to the 12 relatively mild Danish ones and the Imam put them into the booklet he used to inflame the rest of the Moslem world.
So he conned his co-religionists into acting the fools.
And whichever Muslims drew them committed far more blasphemy than the Danes.
If they're Danish citizens they should be tried for treason, if they're not they should be expelled.
This really needs to be put out there for the MSM to report it. Its a shame only a German paper picked this up!
Imam Ahmad Abu Ladan has spent his entire life studying Mohammed and now has drawn a cartoon image of him showing him as a pig. It seems to me everyone should take his word for it - his cartoon has captured Mohammed's essense. This needs to be pointed out to everyone.
Just Sent this to Drudge. Maybe he will put up the Spiegel article.
Watching CNN last night they were showing the protestors and some were shouting, "Death to America!"
Funny... I have yet to see where America is involved in this story.

Only two American papers have posted the cartoons - The Philadelphia Inquirer and the New York Sun. Kudos to both those papers for having guts!
Everyone pick up your copy of the Koran to wipe your butts. Cheerfully and gleefully defecate on his written word. hehehehehehe!!!
I understand they give them out for free at the CAIR website. Maybe we should give them some of our "business".
