LITHONIA, Ga. - Shivering in near-freezing temperatures, thousands of people waited hours in line Tuesday for one last chance to say goodbye to Coretta Scott King before her funeral.
"There's one word to describe going to go see Coretta historic. It's good to finally see her at peace," said Robert Jackson, a 34-year-old financial consultant from Atlanta whose 10-year-old daughter, Ebony, persuaded him to take her to the visitation.
The lines had already started forming by 3 a.m. By the time the doors opened at 6:30 a.m., people toward the end were warned that if they stayed in line they likely wouldn't get into the funeral because of long lines that were already forming there.
An estimated 10,000 people, including four U.S. presidents, were expected to attend the midday funeral at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, where King's daughter Bernice is a minister.

And, of course, they don't have the sense to be ASHAMED.
Precisely. Based on his performance as POTUS and his reliance on the peanut subsidies that he inherited, I concluded long ago that Carter has no common sense or practical ability.
The only worthwhile decision that Jimmah ever made was to leave the US Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program before he could have weakened it with his pathetically inept leadership abilities. Unfortunately, the same can not be said for national security as a whole.

I did NOT vote for Carter. However, I do remember living 60 miles from Midland TX and the interest rate on our new home was 17% and gas lines at the filing stations.
Jimmy Carter is a disgrace.

That's probably what Jesse "I was there when he died" Jackson is thinking.

No - we Episcopalians call OURSELVES that, because we're so uncomfortable with things like giving "the peace" on cue. I found this article on Yahoo. For your consideration (not offered as rebuttal to your post).

I remember my grandfather being angry that interest rates rose to 21% when Carter was given the boot from office.

I am proud to say my first vote was for Reagan in the 1976 primary! Be glad you were climbing trees and throwing rocks instead of being lectured to about your malaise and how you should wear sweaters and lower your expectations and we had to understand the Iranians who took American hostages and it was inevitable we would lose the cold war. Carter always was a narcissitic, petty, bitter, self righteous humbug.

Do you really think that 4 presidents would attend the funerals of the women you have named? If so, I have some swamp land for sale. You are delusional!

The list of Senators is probably pretty long. There was hardly anyone on the Senate floor this morning for Morning Business.

Hi...I will read this all later. No TV (babysitting) but on the radio Rush has been saying that everyone speaking (excepting the President) look like fossils. Has there really been a Wellstone moment? Ha!
