CONGRESS'S Secret Saddam Tapes
New York Sun ^ | February 7, 2006 | Eli Lake

Posted on 02/07/2006 5:02:09 AM PST by IrishMike

"The House Permanant Select Committee on Intelligence is studying hours of audio recordings between Saddam Hussein and his top advisors that may provide clues to the whereabouts of Iraq's WEAPONS of MASS DESTRUCTION. The committee has already confirmed through the intelligence community that the recordings of saddam's voice are AUTHENTIC, according to it's chairman, REP. Peter Hoekstra of Michigan, who would not go into detail about the nature of the conversations or their context." " The audio recordings are part of new evidence the House Intelligence Committee is piecing together that has spurred Mr Koekstra to reopen the question of whether Iraq had the BIOLOGICAL, CHEMICAL and NUCLEAR weapons American weapons inspectors could not turn up." They were provided to his committee by a former Federal prosecutor, John Loftus, who says he received them from a former American military intelligence analyst.

"I think what you're seeing is the Republicans become the Dems of old, and we Conservatives being forced out to become our own entity.

No argument about the road the Republican Party has taken. It sickens me. But that doesn't disprove my contention. Let me express it this way:

The Republicans become the Big Government party as the Democrats become the leftist/socialist party. Sound about right? Well, it's still true that being leftist/socialist will only garner allegiance from a comparatively small percentage of the voting public. That means the Democrats are in danger of becoming marginalized.

The same can be said of a 'Conservative' party. If that were to happen, they too could be marginalized by the comparatively lower percentage of allegiance they'd enjoy. That's why I am, and will continue to be, a supporter of our 2 party system. While we may not always like the way 'our' party votes, or leans, there is strength in numbers. It is then up to us to insure our party maintains the strengths we believe in.

I'm sorry, but I do not see the Republican Party as being anywhere near marginalized as the Democrats are in danger of becoming. In my view there's still hope. And with that hope, there's always room for giving the Democrats one last chance before the roof caves in.

If we raided Syria and found tons of Iraqi chemical and biological weapons, along with the complete paper trail leading up to them, the press+dems would still say, "But you didn't find any Niger yellowcake, did you? Bush still lied, people still died."

Over the media's collective dead body.

Works for me. Let's quit making end runs around them and finish them off by publicizing it and making them totally irrelevent.

Especially if it's authenticated by the same bunch of people that fabricated it....not that this would happen.

We had the original blurb on this posted last
week. If I recall correctly, the post discovery
entailed translating the conversations before
transcribing onto a CD. So, ONE CD would fit,
if the team has presented only part of the
finished work. Seems to have been enough to
spark interest by the Committee.

I anticipate House Dems on the Committee
trying to quash the importance of the info.

Perhaps you could get Mr. Hoekstra to change his rhetoric to more accurately reflect the truth, i.e., that the Dims were remiss because their constant harping about no WMDs left the president little choice but to give the appearance that the search was over. Of course, this is the paper's paraphrasing, so this may not accurately reflect Hoekstra's sentiments.

Mr. Hoekstra said he is not yet prepared to say President Bush was premature in calling off the hunt for the weapons last year, but conceded that his inquiries may lead him to that conclusion if some of the leads offered to his committee check out. He also said the White House has been supportive of his inquiry.

I would feel better if John loftus were not involved.

John Loftus is the Dick Morris of Foreign Intelligence.

"I'm sorry, but I do not see the Republican Party as being anywhere near marginalized as the Democrats are in danger of becoming."

True. But remember, a republican party that swings left and the emergence of a 'conservative' party still represent acceptable policies to the majority of Americans. BUT, the far left tilt of the dems represents a policy base that just cannot resonate with the vast majority.

These divisions have been around for years but as long as the dems held political power, they needn't be proclaimed. Since the dems are out of power, the split in their ranks becomes obvious.

Speaking of paper trails...

From Article: He [Mr. Hoekstra] has also asked the director of national intelligence, John Negroponte, to declassify some 35,000 boxes of Iraqi documents obtained in the war that have yet to be translated.

"I still believe there are key individuals who have not been debriefed and there are key sites that have never been investigated. I know there are 35,000 boxes of documents that have never been translated. I am frustrated," Mr. Hoekstra said.

"LOL...W and his administration were set up over these WMD by Rockefeller other dems + european countries i.e. France, Russia etc. Now the truth will come forth before the elections this yr."

I suspect you are right about that, but the dems will just spin this that Bush let the WMDS go into Syria and potential terrorists and didn't do a thing. The media will parrot the lies by the dems and the American people will buy it. Sorry to be so pessimistic.

I agree with your opinion of Loftus...BUT, it doesn't hurt to see what he has.

I don't know anything about John Loftus. Are you saying he changes the rules in the middle of the game like Dick Morris? Says whatever appears to be the 'winning' statement at the time?

John Loftus says a lot things that don't pan out. Like this alliance between Libya, DPRoK, and Iraq to build nuclear weapons. This, he said, was going to turn the winning trick for Bush in 2004. He also flip-flops like Morris. He will contradict himself.
