Pasadena -- A welder who had been odds with his former employer for more than 20 years over workers compensation benefits was charged with attacking the company's lawyer with a hammer.
The attorney suffered back pain and was treated for a head wound following last week's attack.
Mulji Patel, 67, of Arcadia was arrested Jan. 31 at a Pasadena medical office, police Lt. Lisa Perrine said Monday. He has pleaded not guilty to a felony count of assault with a deadly weapon.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Feb. 16.
Attorney Erwin Nepomuceno said he was accompanying Patel, who slipped and fell while working at McDonnell Douglas in 1983, to the doctor's office on Jan. 31 to ensure he was receiving proper treatment for his injuries.
When he went to get a cup of coffee, Nepomuceno said, Patel took a hammer out of a bag, swung it and hit him in the back.

When your only tool is a hammer, ALL problems start to look like nails.

OMG . . . that poor hammer.
To: SmithL
For the lawyers sake, I guess it's probably better that he used a hammer rather than a nail gun.

Only one attorney, damn!
You know that they have stopped using Rats in medical lab experiments? Now the use lawyers.
Three reasons:There are more of them.
Some of the Lab workers got attached to the
RATS
And, there somethings you just can`t ask a rat
to do
