Catholic priests in the church marking the spot where Jesus was believed to have been born said that during the five-week siege, Palestinians tore up some Bibles for toilet paper and removed many valuable sacramental objects, according to a May 15, 2002, report by the Washington Times.

It's childish, but who gives a flip? It's paper. Christians don't worship paper.

Silly people who do not understand Christianity would be well advised to refrain from commenting upon that which eludes them. The Bible, the book itself, is not now nor has it ever been "holy." To believe such would be idolatry, which is condemned as abomination. The content of the book is the Word. The Word is holy. The book is pieces of paper.

I've been wondering for some time now.

AP News,
Christians rioted around the planet demanding an apology over the desecration of one of the most Holy places. Large groups of Christians, some with signs saying "You will get your 9-11", and "Slay those that slander Christianity", were in the streets of New York.

As usual, the Palestinians are beaten to the punch.
The Communist camp guards in Vietnam did this.
Source: from one of the "boat people" that related the story to
Christian apologist/evangelist Razi Zacharias. How did this escapee from
Communist Vietnam know this? He had latrine duty during his
all-expenses-paid stay at a re-education camp.

That is an opinion which is held by SOME Christians. But it is certainly not the view of all or even most. Worship is reserved to God. But respect for things which are holy is not idolatry. Recall please that Moses was commanded to remove his shoes before the burning bush. He was told that he stood on Holy Ground. The Bible contains the inspired word of God. As such its words are sacred and Holy. deliberate desecration of it is indeed sacrilegious.

In this world, it's the only religion that Satan opposes, so it should come as no surprise that this sort of thing goes on. As a Christian, I would wish that they would show respect, but knowing this world as it is, it isn't likely to happen.

Yeah, how dare they point out Islamist hypocrisy... especially after The New York Times has already covered the subject so exhaustively.
To: andie74
Islam = antichrist? Actually, the Antichrist is Esther N. Summers, 46, of 15c Rose Crescent Apartments, Dubuque, Iowa. We just haven't told her yet and boy, is she going to be surprised!
On another matter entirely, it would be its own penance to use any Bible I've ever seen as toilet paper.

I would rather that a Palestian use a Bible as toilet paper than Charmin. You need something to read when you're sitting on the pot. Read the toilet paper. Maybe you'll learn something.
If not, then don't complain that you weren't exposed to the Bible when you meet your maker.
