Well on instant replay it sure didn't look like he had it over the plane. Are you saying that he had ahold of it when it was over the plane and then when he came down he and the ball moved backwards? You can actually see him move it out from well underneath him and then place it over the goal.

I saw the Stones two years ago, and they were FANTASTIC!!! Mick ran up and down the state for 2+ hours and was never winded.
