A Rosenberg Takes On the Government, This Time Using the Law as a Means of Protest
NY Times ^ | February 5, 2006 | SAM ROBERTS

Posted on 02/05/2006 7:44:29 AM PST by Pharmboy

A profile of Rachel Meeropol, the lead lawyer for a group of Muslim immigrants suing the United States government, explains why she went to work for the Center for Constitutional Rights.

"Rachel's interest in prisoners' rights work stems from her family's firsthand experience with the destructive impact of the criminal 'justice' system on communities and individuals," the profile explains cryptically, without mentioning the most famous members of her family.

When he was 6, the boy's birth parents, Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, were executed at Sing Sing on June 19, 1953, for conspiracy to commit espionage for the Soviet Union.

"I was in first grade, and my teacher asked if any of the kids in the class knew of any holidays that happened in June. And I raised my hand and said, well, on June 19 in New York City people celebrate my grandparents. And the teacher said, 'I'm sorry I've never heard of that holiday.' "

More than 50 years later, it is widely accepted that in the 1940's Julius Rosenberg was, in fact, a Soviet spy. His network passed along military and industrial secrets, most notably details about the atomic bomb, most of which the Russians had obtained from other sources. Legally, Ethel Rosenberg is considered much less culpable: Within the last few years, her brother, David Greenglass, also charged in the conspiracy, acknowledged that he had lied when he delivered the most incriminating evidence against her.

Ms. Meeropol said of her grandparents, "I don't know what they did, but I know they couldn't get a fair trial, that the death penalty was wrong, and that they weren't guilty of what they were convicted of."

Suppose Soviet archives conclusively revealed that her grandfather was a spy?

"It's not something I've spent much time thinking about," she replied.

Steam came out my ears this AM as I read this kissy-face profile of the little spoiled commie brat grand daughter of those stinking spies, the Rosenbergs. The NY Times will NEVER let this story rest--although they say that it is "widely accepted" that those b*stards spied for the USSR and gave them atomic secrets, there are always softening sentencs. Here, "[atomic secrets], most of which the Russians had obtained from other sources."

A pox on you, you filthy, disgusting, NY Times. Are you saying that what the Rosenberg's did was OK? Then, [Sam Kinison voice] SAY IT! SAY IT ALREADY! And Mr. Sam Roberts, fancy guy reporter for the NY Times, why don't you ask this disgusting little commie about the millions of people that her soviet friends exterminated under Stalin? Still covering for Mr. Duranty, Mr. Roberts?

And dontcha just love how she "never thinks about" the issues surrounding the guilt of her grandparents?

And finally, as an American with Jewish blood in me, I can only be so ashamed of these people with whom I share tribal origins with who can only attack the greatest country that ever was, AND, the country that has been THE BEST to the Jews in history! Sorry for the rant, freepers, but this piece was hard for me to take this AM and I figured you would understand.

They had Venona codenames. That makes them guilty.

It is only OUR system that is to blame, you see. When it is a commie system it is fine to pull people out of their homes at four in the morning and put them in gulags OR starve them to death by the millions OR shoot them in the back of the head in some Moscow basement.

"I don't know what they did but I know they weren't guilty." Quite a lawyer...

Although I detest her and all her fellow travelers, I loathe the Times even more.

The NY Times as an organization, every employee there, and every relative thinks the Rosenbergs were innocent.

History has proven them guilty.

The NY Times supports the Rosenbergs _because_ it knows they were guilty.

If this red diaper baby Marxist had had time to think of her reply,it would have been "false documents could easily have been planted in the files of The Glorious Motherland!"

As a bonus, she is defending the people who are currently out to get the Jews bigtime. This bad judgment thing appears to run in this family (in spades!).

Odds are that this Marxist, among others in her clan,is an "atheist* Jew and, therefore, sees observant Jews as being dullards, pawns and criminals.

The only good thing about the NYT's fixation with the Rosenbergs is that it keeps them from re-hashing Sacco and Vanzetti. :)

You are right on. Even Marx himself was an "atheist" Jew.
