Here's a video clip of an extraordinary exchange between one of CNN International's anchors and the Muslim Council of Britain, Abdurahmen Jafar. Skirting around the fact that there has been an "extreme" and "violent" response is naive.
Anchor: It seems that has taken on a life of it's own. I mean you see in some Palestinian territories, for instance, in Gaza, where Europeans are being told to stay indoors, that they're at risk. And it's kind of taken on this dimension, that seems, from the outside, violent.
Instead of a thoughtful response, Jafar says the publication of the cartoons is equal to this extremism, and then compares the cartoons' publication to Hitler's depictions of the Jews in pre-war Germany.
Jafar: It's very sorry and it's very sad that I think extremists on both sides. Muslims are extremely angry, and Europeans are using this to ferment. Both sides we have people. There is no monopoly over evil or hatred. I think this is a very sad time. You would see cartoons exactly like this just before Nazi Hitler arrived, when they depicted Jews and when they depicted rabbis in horendous caricatures.

Syria apologises over Swedish embassy burning
Published: 5th February 2006 12:29 CET
Sweden's foreign minister Laila Freivalds has spoken to her Syrian counterpart expressing serious concern that the Swedish embassy in Damascus was torched on Saturday as part of the protests over the Danish cartoons.
"He sincerely apologised over what had happened and that they couldn't prevent it," said Freivalds to TT.
"The explanation is that the intelligence they had did not indicate that this sort of thing could happen - it was exceptional," she added.
Syrian foreign minister Faruq al-Shara informed Freivalds that a special committee had been formed to investigate the incident and who was responsible.

The following is an exerpt from an interview conducted by the Hindustan Times with Liaquat Hussain, secretary of the Bradford Central Mosque contrasted with statements from Flemming Rose, the cartoonist responsible for the original caricatures that appeared in Jyllands-Posten.
This is clearly a demonstration by the Christian world of hostility towards the Muslim community, he said. This has come from all the nations of Europe and it reflects an ongoing campaign against Muslims by the Western powers. You cant differentiate between the Western world and Christianity; you cant separate whats happened from the people of those countries and their governments. I blame all of the Western population because these cartoons reflect the opinion of the people.

Really makes a lot of folks wonder if that's possible. If there are any "moderate leaders" among them.
I believe that, once embraced sincerely, there's got to be something in their code o' text that inspires them to violence and destruction. I hear and read statements from some muslims who claim to not endorse the violence and lunatic acts of many other muslims who rape, pillage, burn about cartoons and yet seem smug and satisfied when people are murdered and murder otherwise, I hear/read that some muslims "denounce" the rioting and murdering and destruction but no LEADER has.
No one with any authority among them appears and instead, who do appear are those who proliferate and encourage the violence and lunatic behaviors -- OBL, the Imam, etc. -- and so I am nearly concluded in my own views that their ideology, once taken seriously (what it is to be 'devout' within their ideology) means that the violence and destruction are normalized and expected. That means that what it is that is a belief system to them is destruction and mayhem and rape and murder.
They have made no other presentation before the world's population other than those and by those to intimidate others into a suppressed form of obedience, to my view.
I can only conclude by what I see, read and hear and haven't seen, read or heard anything to contradict these conclusions.
Would'nt do them any good. Any mujahadin from a list of millions of hard core moose slimes that would blow away the "apostate" as soon as he got any influence at all.
Would'nt do us too much good, either.
Radical Muslim = "Kill all the Infidels, now!"
Moderate Muslim = "Convert the infidels, and if they don't want to convert, kill them later when we can do so without too many of us dying."
