Area Muslims React With Tempered Anger--Some Say Depiction Overstepped Liberties [DC]
Washington Post ^ | 2-4-06 | Caryle Murphy

Wearing a brown golf cap against the cold drizzle, Rocky Omary stood outside Walima Cafe in Falls Church, where he and about 50 other men of Middle Eastern descent had just watched the Tunisian soccer team take a drubbing from the Nigerians.

That trouncing was bad enough. But Omary had other, more disturbing, insults on his mind: specifically, the recent publication in European newspapers of cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad as a terrorist.

(Nikki Kahn - The Washington Post) "I've been getting a lot of e-mails about it, and I'm distributing them all," said Omary, a Damascus native who sells real estate in Northern Virginia. "There is a limit to freedom. There are 1.2 billion Muslims in the world. Let's have some respect."

A few miles away at the All Dulles Area Muslim Society mosque in Sterling, Zaki Al Barzinji, 16, was equally upset.

"Just because you can say something doesn't mean you should say something," the teenager said. "If somebody showed a picture of the Pope with a bomb on his head, that would cause a great public outcry. Nobody would be talking about freedom of speech."

Pix are in the wrong order: Pretzel first, then beer.

As a devout Catholic, please let me say that I find your insensitive mocking of the Pope to be pretty darn funny.

"the teenager said. "If somebody showed a picture of the Pope with a bomb on his head, that would cause a great public outcry. Nobody would be talking about freedom of speech.""

This moozlam doesn't know much about freedom of speech in recent American history... NYC Artshows- crucified Jesus in a bottle of human piss or the left wingers favorite a cow dung painting a Mary.

Majdi Omouri, 30, a limousine driver, was philosophical. "If you look at freedom as something really large, without limits, it doesn't make sense," he said. "Freedom has to be united with responsibility. . . . In the name of freedom, I cannot insult your beliefs."

Uh, yes, you CAN insult someone else's beliefs, a$$hole.

Muslims trying to tell Western nations what they can and can't do will be the tipping point. They've done a great job of pissing off numerous Europeans (finally), and what is blowing me away is that even many U.S. lefties are finally hitting their breaking point with this. If the DUmmies are blasting the reaction to the cartoons, the tide is shifting, and not in Islamists' favor, and it's about time too.

Point taken. I wonder if anyone perused my post #68? A cartoon of a bomb on the head of the Pope if drawn, compared with bullets in the body..... etc.

This matter doesn't show disrespect for muslims...it tells the truth about islam.

And that is why they do not want the information disseminated. It must remain cloaked in secrecy.

Suggestions please.

I posted this earlier today and haven't changed my mind...

I think the only real solution is to eliminate the cult of mohammedism.
Anything else would be but a temporary fix.
There's is no way to avoid bloodshed on a massive scale but it need not require genocide.
All of the cult of death's "holy" places must be razed to the ground.
All traces of its existence destroyed.
The virus that is the koran should be made as difficult to find as an intelligent DUer.
Anyone preaching the cult or protesting against its destruction should be eliminated, not thrown in jail but killed outright.
The non-zealots when faced with the choice will choose life.
Open their world to the teachers of Christianity, Buddhism, Taoism, Zoroastrism.
Give them spiritual options.

Cults can be destoyed.
At one time Mithraism was wide spread throughout the Roman Empire. Where is it now?
The ancient Egyptian religion lasted for millennia. Today, nowhere to be found.
It won't be PC and it won't be pretty but it can be done.

"If somebody showed a picture of the Pope with a bomb on his head, that would cause a great public outcry."

But, the Pope doesn't encourage his followers to kill innocent people.

Odd,.......! I don't remember hearing a sound of objection from any of them and that includes the LSM over the "Art" that had elephant dung on the Virgin Mother or the Crucifix in a mason-jar filled with urine. Did I miss it?

And I'm pretty sure that the mock crucifixion that was to star Britney Spears on Will & Grace that NBC decided not run wasn't because of any death threats or other such ultimatums the stars of the show et al had recieved either!

Not likely. There would be quiet lectures at dinner tables around the world and zero public outcry and zero demonstrations.

This is where it all starts and continues.. Ideas pass from person to person. Usually from older to younger. From the power structures to the vulnerable. Cults from time to time have taken over and gradually been defeated. The head of the snake is those teaching this evil garbage.. IMHO.
