Police attempt to diffuse tensions as Muslims, neo-Nazis, and anti-racists voice opinions about Mohammed drawings
No Korans or other Islamic symbols were burnt in Copenhagen on Saturday as a counter-reaction to Muslim demonstrations against Denmark during the past week, said Copenhagen Police.
The police made their statement after the Danish embassy in Damascus had been sacked and burnt to the ground as rumours of the opposite spread.
'We would like to make this very clear: There has not been any defilement or burning of religious icons such as the Koran, flags, or other items,' said Copenhagen Police Department spokesman Flemming Steen Munch.
Throughout the day, police forces patrolled streets in number and sought to prevent confrontations as Muslim, nationalist, and leftist groups planned demonstrations.
While demonstrations in the Nørrebro and Frederiksberg districts were peacefully conducted, one protest in the city of Hillerød, 30 km north of Copenhagen, resulted in 162 arrests, said police inspector Mogens Lauridsen.
About 30 members of the nationalist group, Danish Front, organised the Hillerød protest in response to what it considered 'Muslim aggression'. Leftist political groups organised a counter-demonstration and were joined by a number of people with an immigrant background.
Police officers armed with tear gas and batons struggled to maintain distance between the antagonistic groups.
'We feel it's best that people be allowed to express their opinions separated,' said police spokesman Flemming Munch.
The groups yelled slogans at each other for about two hours in sub-zero temperatures, but no physical confrontation took place. As the leftist political groups headed back to the train station, however, they began throwing bottles and other projectiles at police.
Police arrested about 110 leftists, as well as about 50 people with an immigrant background.
'It was a nearly impossible task to keep the three groups separated,' said police inspector Mogens Lauridsen. 'It seemed as if it didn't have too much to do with the drawings in Jyllands-Posten. It seemed as if people just wanted to cause a ruckus. It's a shame.'

A caller into the Barbara Simpson show on KSFO San Francisco claimed that Dutch Imams themselves inserted three additional political cartoons of a sexual nature to the original twelve in order to further inflame the "muslim street". Caller further claimed this was common knowledge to europeans but not disclosed in the American media.
Islam is the ultimate form of hypocracy, second only to the democrats. A few "insulting" cartoons are published and the world comes to end, as far as Muslims are concerned. But when observers of their own faith blow up innocent civilians, behead hostages, knock down buildings on 9/11, etc., what is the reaction from "moderate" Muslims around the world?? DEAD SILENCE

Civilized legal procedings are fine and well but I'd say they could use a little street justice. Maybe a few hundred cops on loan from Chicago with mace, cattle prods, TASERS and such, you know, just to get the justice process off on the right foot. Then deport deport their butts.
You CAN go to the Mosque and kneel down and sniff some other guys ass (unless you are in front), you can treat women like crap, you can take over someone else's country and take their stuff and even make them slaves, you can fly planes in to buildings and kill kids and other innocents and get a bunch of virgins if you do (yea,sure). Basically you can do what the imams tell you to do because YOU LEFT YOUR F'ING MIND AND YOUR FREEDOM BEHIND WHEN YOU BECAME A moslem!
If the founders of the United States would have taken all their ideas and flipped them upside down they would have created something along the lines of islam. I'm astounded that so many people after 9/11 have not taken the time to simply study this so-called religion and not see that the worshippers of the moon god are not only dangerous they are absolutely no damn fun!

Unless islam has some radical internal changes...like killing all the lunatic mullas and imams, there will never be a chance for the world to be at peace.
I do believe, however, that islam truly does want peace, but only the "peace" that worldwide islamic law would bring....and they intend to bring us mohammadian "peace" or kill us all.
So it is time that we engage once again in that "animating contest of freedom"....to rid the world, once and for all, of one of the most menacing threats to freedom and liberty that has come upon this Earth.
