In the Liberal mind, we are all victims. What separates us as victims is the metric. An Islamic rapist can get a suspended sentence in the west on the grounds that his cultural identity trumps the victimization of the woman who was raped (especially if she is muslim) western women have no recourse since it would be understood that culturally, she should have known better. His victimization as a muslim trumps his rape. But this measure is of course not applied across the spectrum.

Now we have Danish cartoonists who caricatured Mohammad running for their lives in Europe, thousands of muslims on the Arab street burning down embassies in Syria. Where is the Liberal anger at this? Where is the NYT, WP and all the alphabet media on this?

How long until the Danish government, and all the other European countries that ran the cartoons, give in, apologize, and then ban any muslim cartoons? It wouldn't surprise me if they paid reparations as well.

According to the left:

Whenever a Westerner visits a Muslim country, they should abide local customs (i.e. women wear veils, no bibles allowed, no western music, etc.).

When Muslims move to a Western country, the Western country should change to accomodate the Muslims.

If a Muslim moves to a Western country which practices freedom of speech, then the MUSLIM should respect the 'customs' of their new country. If they do not like freedom of the press and freedom of speech, then move out!

Also, we are hearing so much from the State Department about these cartoons embarrassing Islam, causing anger and being hurtful to Muslims. Well, we never hear anything from them about the anger and embarrassment caused by the same type of cartoons in Arab press when the cartoons are pointed towards Christians and Jews. We never hear anything from them when a crucifix is placed in a jar of urine, something which is hurtful, which causes anger and embarrassment to Christians.

angry Arab ambassadors in Copenhagen requested a meeting with Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen. They were demanding severe punishment of those responsible, as well as an official apology from the Danish government. Rasmussen refused to see them, arguing that the Danish government doesn't interfere with the press.
