Why Muslims are so sensitive to images of Prophet being used BASHIR MAAN MUSLIMS hold the Prophet in such high respect and reverence that he is only after God. He is regarded more respectfully than one's parents.

Believers think of him as the prefect human being in the world.

Islam forbids images of anybody. Images are forbidden in the Koran. There are many verses in the Koran which condemn worshipping idols. From that we draw that idols are paintings and pictures, and particularly pictures of the Prophet.

There were no paintings in his life of how he looked. There are descriptions of how he looked and explanations of his facial features, but no pictures. It is regarded as idolatrous.

That is the reason that the Prophet prohibited images in the house.

But the Prophet is more defended because of the respect and reverence that we have for him.

There are some people who say that photographs are acceptable because that is not a painting. They say that a photograph does not come into that category.

But, on the whole, Muslims do not like photographs or idols. Veneration starts from the photographs and causes idolatry.

It will never change because it covers everything. Islam is a way of life. It covers every aspect of human life. There is no room for innovation or changes there. Everything is proscribed.

The best thing is the template of the life of the Prophet.

Everything was written down, it was history. But there is no rigidity, there are no extremes in Islam, no right or left.

Those who protest can protest peacefully. As they have the right to print, so they have the right to protest.

There should not be any violence.

I don't think the pictures should have been published. It only widens the gulf between Islam and the West.

Maybe they don't appreciate the reverence Muslims have for the Prophet. Maybe it was mischievous of them.

No religious faith should be caricatured, because it will create offence.

This is an abuse of the freedom of expression.

Most of the people in Islamic countries are emotional because there is more illiteracy than literacy, and that is the reason why some people go to extremes.

That is why some people take it too far.

That is not good for Islam and not good for them.

I think there must be some sort of understanding between the West and Islam.

Ok, so the back stone they worship, a meteorite in Saudi Arabia that 100 of thousands flock to kiss is what?

"Gross?" - but I'm sure you were searching for a deeper answer.

WHO GIVES TWO SH*TS ABOUT WHAT "ISLAM FORBIDS"? We are not Muslims, dammit! The West is not Muslim territory. They are sick, homicidal animals who worship a form of Satan. Why should anyone show any modicum of respect for such a twisted, disgusting cult?

These people are heathens, that have become arrogant to the world, thinking they can do anything they like.

I suppose they can. If America was as intolerant and insane as Muslims, we would have had 8 million beheaded Muslims after 9-11. However many of these insane people live in our country.

"But there is no rigidity, there are no extremes in Islam, no right or left."

What a laugh.
There are only extremes in Islam.

Islam is a religion designed to cause mental illness.

I think the reason behind it, the real reason that is, is that Mo was a criminal. He didn't want anyone to know what he looked like so he could move with impunity when he wasn't sawing heads.

Someone draws him or makes a sculpture and the gig would have been up.

Images are forbidden in the Koran.
So is living among the infidels. What's this bozo's point? Muslims routinely violate one tenet of al-Quran, why not another one?

Because, as with all religions, different passages are interpereted differently by different groups.

If his was the only interperetation of Koranic scripture, then muslims would be bobming the offices of Al Jazeera.

Why Muslims are so sensitive to images of Prophet being used

I am no more interested in why muslims are so sensitive than I was as to why muslims destroyed the World Trade Center.
Save your breath.

I Don't Care!!

I just wish to keep them out of my country permanently. Both the active killers and their silent support system. All of them.

If they just stayed in their hell-holes, I wouldn't even have to waste time typing this...

What part of NOT WELCOME don't you understand?

Why Muslims are so sensitive to images of Prophet being used

Because they know the truth about him.
That Mohammed was simply a street-wise thug that got lots of money
and babes by crafting a sandbox bushido code that panders to the
basest instincts of males, shielding it from honest exposure
with a thin veneer of "religious respectability".

But on a purely pragmatic basis, Islam has everything a man could want:
sex, money, adventure, and a really great orgasmic retirement plan.

I think there must be some sort of understanding between the West and Islam.

Good idea except for one thing...it's hard to have any kind of understanding between the West and Islam when the first thing out of an Islamist's mouth is usually, "You must understand...".

These people's attitude is always "Our way or no way" and until they open themselves to actual dialog as opposed to a "shut up and listen" mentality no understanding can ever be accomplished. They know this and that's why they are the way they are.

Sometimes people only understand the most basic of concepts. The Israelis have been dealing with this nonsense for a long time and have figured out that "an eye for an eye" seems to be the only "understanding" these people can grasp...or at least are willing to.

Christians, sorry for the offensive pic, but it makes a point you'll like.

I'm sure you Christians here you don't like this pic, you may write some outraged letters, you may peacefully picket an exhibition of it, you may call for your tax dollars to stop funding an institution that shows it, but for the most part you'll probably pray for the man who made the "art."

But how many of you would actually incite violence over this or make death threats? None, I believe. And these Muslims are getting violent over a stupid cartoon? Pathetic. They don't see the irony that the cartoon perfectly reflects their response to it.

But it doesn't forbid this?

I'm not too sure where that pic comes from, and I can't guarantee that this is the case, but in many cultures a kiss on the lips can be completely asexual, a sign of familial (rather than sexual) love.
