What would really make people stand up and take notice would be the spectacle of Islamists espousing tolerance, rational thought, and peacefulness - but it'll never happen...

IMO, you are correct. Muslims presume that because we are slow to anger that we (non-muslims) do not have a temper. I think they are about to learn an important lesson.
You couldn't be more right. Rational people in Europe HAVE to know they are sitting on a powder keg they helped to create.

Our recent history in Europe does not inspire one with confidence that they will face this threat and make the decisions necessary to reverse the course.
Frankly, Europe has produced a generation of youths who have little connection to their past, and whose loyalty seems to be to some notion of political correctness and cradle to grave socialism.
