By JOEL BRINKLEY and IAN FISHER Published: February 4, 2006
WASHINGTON, Feb. 3 The Muslim world erupted in anger on Friday over caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad published in Europe while the Bush administration offered the protesters support, saying of the cartoons, "We find them offensive, and we certainly understand why Muslims would find these images offensive."

So they made up the WH statement?

That's why I love South Park. They apologize if they DONT offend. hahaha.
The State Department spokesman, Sean McCormack, reading the government's statement on the controversy, said, "Anti-Muslim images are as unacceptable as anti-Semitic images," which are routinely published in the Arab press, "as anti-Christian images, or any other religious belief."

Good grief.
I could maybe understand something like: "We understand why they're upset by the cartoons; we don't understand or accept the outrageous, ridiculous, and unwarranted response."
Exactly!
You linked the Scientology episode - great episode but the wrong one.

Sickening. It should be remembered that they object to any portrayal of Mohamed, not just those considered disrespectful, and that the original reason for printing these cartoons was because a writer of a book on Mohamed couldn't find an illustrator who wasn't physically afraid to take the job. Already, in the year 2006, and it will only get worse. Equally cowardly are the American news outlets who have censored these mild cartoons. CNN looks to its ratings rather than its duties.
I agree wholeheartedly!
After the way the Muslims have been acting over the last few years I could really care less what they think.
This on the other hand, is not offensive at all:
