If the churches that were attacked turn out to be black churches, rest assured that Alabama will be swarming with Federal LEOs and MSM types like flies to honey. Assuming there are white supremacists stupid enough to have committed this crime and these are not "Reichstag fires", they will likely be sentenced to 999 life sentences in some prison with an 80% black inmate population. In combination with the recent attack on homosexuals at a "gay bar" in Massachusetts, watch for renewed pressure for Federal "hate crimes" laws. There may even be calls for curbs on the Internet, since the suspect in the bar attack probably contacted white supremacist groups through their Web sites.

If they are white churches that were bombed, the MSM will be relatively quiet and the FBI will do little more than a cursory review. However, it is possible that, even if the churches were white and were conducted by some leftist or Satanist crackpots (who, if caught, will only receive minor sentences), these attacks may be used by RINOs to encourage Republican support for "hate crimes" legislation. The argument will be that such legislation is needed because even white evangelicals can be affected by "hate."

- the Southern Baptist Convention has gone through a split (with the SBC being the most conservative) and there is a lot of animosity in some parts of the country. Who knows? I suspect that it is likely to be a loony individual or small group with a grievance.

I'm Southern Baptist and the "split" you are referring to is news to me. I might add I'm an active Southern Baptist. Our splits usually only mean that more churches will be started, not burnt down.

Yeah! Get it right. Don't insult us like that. Everyone knows Mississippi exists just so Alabama won't be rated #50 in everything.

Don't start fighting.

Baptists are not protestant. The heritage comes from the churches who did not join the ROman Catholic church at its founding. I won't argue with you. If you reject this information, it does not matter to me. It's just for your edification.

One cannot discount that these may be cooking accidents. After all if there is one thing we Southern Baptist's are known for it is our Pot Luck gatherings ;-)

Just heard on the radio news at the top of the hour here that 4 of the churches are white and one was black. Arson is suspected.

Alabama ping!

I'm surprised no racial numbers about the churches have been pulled up yet. Unless they're predominantly white (which would explain why the media isn't saying anything; if these were 'black' churches, the media would be on this like white on rice).

There's no such thing as a hate crime. Arson is a crime like any other.

(Or so I've read around here.)

One black church, 4 white churches.

Maybe they were frying up some chicken and there was a grease fire that got out of control.

You're right; the Baptist church is an outgrowth of the Bible-based anabaptist movement, which was neither catholic or protestant.

Question: What's the difference between a Baptist and a Methodist?

Answer: A Methodist will say hello in the liquor store.

You are correct. I attend FBA and it is not predominately white. Maybe 50% or 60%.

I am not attacking Baptists as a whole, only an individual. I have noted many of her posts in the past as being rabidly anti-Catholic, and rather than taking the "high road", I am throwing her own garbage right back in her face. I have a list of posters like her.

I get along with almost every Protestant I meet, and I only go after those who have a habit of attacking the Church. I apologize if I came across wrong, I usually do.
