- the Southern Baptist Convention has gone through a split (with the SBC being the most conservative) and there is a lot of animosity in some parts of the country. Who knows? I suspect that it is likely to be a loony individual or small group with a grievance. I'm Southern Baptist and the "split" you are referring to is news to me. I might add I'm an active Southern Baptist. Our splits usually only mean that more churches will be started, not burnt down.

One cannot discount that these may be cooking accidents. After all if there is one thing we Southern Baptist's are known for it is our Pot Luck gatherings ;-)
