Iran daily calls France a fascist state

Tehran, Iran, Feb. 02 – A semi-official Iranian daily called France a “fascist state” in an editorial on Thursday.

The hard-line daily Kayhan, which reflects the position of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei criticised the European Union for attempting to have the Islamic Republic’s nuclear file referred to the United Nations Security Council less than a month since French President Jacques Chirac publicly stated that he would be willing to use non-conventional weapons, such as nuclear bombs, to respond to a major terrorist incident on French soil.

The daily accused Paris of increasing its arsenal of weapons on mass destruction rather than disarming.

“This is the same France as the one which for years held up the flag of democracy and human rights in the West”, the editorial mocked.

“One question is this: Why is there such a noticeable difference between its claims and its action, and why did Jacques Chirac gloat in such a medieval manner?”, it wrote.

What is the deal with news in the muslim world? We have protestors rioting today over cartoons published back in September. We have Iranian papers commenting on things that are two to three weeks old...

They are so far behind it is laughable.

I'm afraid 'wussies' would apply to most of the European countries. So France has no monopoly on that. Come to think of it...the other words do as well....

But more seriously I do wonder if these many Islamic issues will denote a sea change in Europe. (I'm in UK).

for instance - I would think Turkey's applicztgion for membership of the EU is dead in the water right now. But this might just turn a corner on other matters...not too hopeful - but gotta keep some optimism. Kind regards,

while a sane person would think turkeys app to the eu is dead, we know that insane people run this world. globalism will continue unabated. the wot is simply a bump on the road in this process. being a euro you are much closer to it now vis a vis the muslims. the usa is right behind you, dont worry.

I take your point - except on the Turkey issue only one member state has to veto it and the big NO comes up..

Denmark voted against the enlarged constitution in the referendum recently. And this cartoon stuff has stung them politically. Finland too methinks. The Scandinavian countries are the ones that might put the kibosh on it. We'll see.

Certainly not 'Old Europe' - I'm pretty much with you there.

Kind regards

And my friends wonder I'm so woefully clueless on current pop culture when I go on home leave. LOL

hope you and yours are doing well both here and abroad. the odd thing is that i get the feeling they are ok with being so backwards. i know some muslims and they seem fine with the middle east being so primitive.

I think what they meant to say was,

France a "flaccid state".

I know what you mean about 'wussies', I am surrounded with them. Though I have heard some positive signals lately and less people now think that the religion of peace is good.

Wussies you say... hmmmm that's true in some aspects.

Beeing a german I have to admit we are not the people that deploy tanks easily.

Maybe that's got something to do with our past and you guys not wanting us to do tank shows all around the world for a longer time.

Anyhow:

I don't understand the fuzz about european apeacement -it's just half a solution and half a f'up aswell as you guys just limping around and in arabia with the stick. The donkey moves best with both.

talking about wussies - what about your democrats ?

Well I might have over-egged it a bit. I do make comments mixed with a bit of banter - but really you should hear the stuff that people defend about Islam around here - all I really want to say is that all this might change things for the better...Give Europe a more realistic view of Islam and a bit of backbone to avoid the constant appeasement.

remember in the UK we only 5 days ago defeated a Bill by 1 vote that would almost certainly have made publishing those inconsequential cartoons a crime.
