Well if you think a guest worker program that allows the illegals to stay is not an amnesty......then I have a bridge to sell you.
The RNC just endorsed a guest worker program.
Just wait and see what comes out of all this. Republicans are gonna be disappointed. I trust none of them anymore.

A politician is a politician, is a politician........

"...that leaves the OBL Ruling Eeee-lites with 15%"

If even that, when the questions are properly framed rather than gamed.

"If the Senate passes any kind of guest worker amnesty, and it makes it into a final bill and is passed, then I have voted for my last Rinocrat Quisling traitor."

Yes, that would pretty much empty the RNC of the few conservatives still hanging around hoping the Good Ship RINO will suddenly start tacking to the right.

Ain't gonna happen until these fools lose an election or two.

"He has no business being in the Senate."

Nor does another 55-60 of his co-hacks.

"The only way illegal immigration will stop is with aggressive grassroots movements like the Minutemen."

Agree completely.

"When the RNC calls me for money I will tell them that all my donations are being reallocated to the Minutemen."

Exactly what the RNC Big Tent deserves--Zero. Which is what they got from me last year and will get again this year.

I can't wait for the next RNC call.

We don't NEED a "provision" denying the Childern of Illegals citizenship..we just need a proper reading of the 14th Amendment!

We just need someone to bring a citizenship case to the Supreme Court and have 5 justices on the Supreme Court to support a proper reading of the 14th. I wonder how many votes on the Supreme Court would support a proper reading though.

Birthright citizenship is something that can become a serious federal issue because US Citizenship is a concept that is defined in the Federal Constitution. As such it is more privileged than normal statutes and it is widely held that the Constitution supersedes any Treaty. That means that the definition of Citizenship can only be changed by Constitutional amendment or by an interpretation of the Supreme Court. If the provision of a state Constitution Contradicts the interpretation of the Supreme Court on US citizenship, it can be struck down as unconstitutional because of the Supremacy clause in the US Constitution which declares, "This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding."

(It may also be possible to abrogate a treaty as Jimmy Carter did with the Defense Treaties the US had ratified with Taiwan.)

"I do not trust these clowns in DC or Austin to go in and tamper with constitutions."

No Constitutional change is necessary to cease birth citizenship.

1) "Birthrights" are endowed from parents - illegals have no right to confer citizenship just because of the geographic location of a baby-drop. That's a no brainer.

2) The Fourteenth amendment's article 5 gives Congress specific authority to regulate its implementation, unlike others that use a term "shall not be infringed" - yet is, repeatedly.

Congress has failed America - not the law.

I concur with what old republic stated above. To remove birthright citizenship WOULD require a federal constitutional change, and at least one state (Texas). I am not certain about the other states, but strongly suspect that their constitutions would be affected.

I believe that our energies are better focused on demanding that the current laws be upheld. This may come as a shock to many, but we already have a guest worker program for Mexico and Canada!

Exceptions for NAFTA Countries (Mexico and Canada) If you are filing for a national from Mexico and are applying for initial classification as a TN (Trade NAFTA), you will not need to complete the Form I-129. More information is available on the Department of State TN Visa website about applying at a U.S. Consular post abroad. http://uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/i-129.htm

I can't wait for the next RNC call.

Same here. I have a word document saved that I print out and include with their request - and I let them pay the return postage. I tell them that my financial contributions are now going to the Minutemen, since they are willing to do what this administration isn't. And that won't be supporting - financially or with votes - any candidate or party that doesn't strongly endorse enforcing existing immigration laws. And lastly, I am waiting for Bush to apologize to the Minutemen heros for calling them 'vigilantes.'

Strangely enough, the more often I send this letter to them, the more requests I get for money! Clueless...

"And that won't be supporting - financially or with votes - any candidate or party that doesn't strongly endorse enforcing existing immigration laws."

Several weeks ago I received two separate letters (donation requests) from the RNC. One was in the form of a "survey" (nothing on illegal immigration of course) and the other was a letter request for donation enclosing my RNC 2006 membership card. I marked up the survey with comments and criticism for various questions, stating there would be no more donations until I see a complete stop to the flood of illegal aliens and a conservative agenda in place and being acted upon. For the second letter, I cut the membership card in half and pasted it to the back of the donation card, marking it up with the same sort of comments.

So far, no calls from the RNC. When they do call--and they always call--I really feel sorry for the RNC guy on the other end of the line. It won't be pretty.

LOL! I should be more creative like that. I like the idea of cutting your membership card in half and sending it back to them. Doing things like that would keep me amused and might get the message across better!

I did get a call from some poor lady at the RNC a while back - I started out ranting and raving at her about illegal immigration, but after she seemed to agree with my stance, I sort of lost my momentum. But she did say she would note my concerns and let someone know.

We just need to get more of us to do this. I hope that when we're facing a Hillary vs. a pretend conservative for president, we don't cave into the immediate situation and let the GOP continue business as usual. I'll need to come back to FR then for the motivation you provide so well!

For my New Year's resolution, I resolved to never again pull that voting lever for the "least worse" candidate. That, more than anything else, is what brings us the mushy GOP Big Tent full of RINOs, liberals and moderates--conservatives not wanted. Once we stop enabling these bastards, we will see some dramatic improvements. We just have to stop condoning RINO behavior.
