WASHINGTON --Majority Leader Bill Frist told a group of key lawmakers involved in immigration legislation the Senate will take up the issue on March 27, Sen. John Cornyn of Texas said Thursday. "That's when the fireworks begin on the floor," Cornyn said. Cornyn was among the handful of Republican senators who met in Frist's office for the strategy session. Also at the meeting were Arizona Sens. John McCain and Jon Kyl and Sens. Mel Martinez of Florida, Richard Lugar of Indiana, Judd Gregg of New Hampshire and Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, the Judiciary Committee chairman. Cornyn is optimistic the Senate bill will include President Bush's proposal for an expanded immigrant guest worker program to help curb illegal immigration. "Obviously everyone understands border security is the foundation of any comprehensive bill," Cornyn said, "but I think in the Senate there's also broad acceptance of the need to deal with not just security issues but economic issues as well, which means a temporary worker program to in some way deal with 11 million (illegal immigrants) here."

What now?
We will push for his early removal if he toes the DC elitist line and pushes "Amnesty-lite". I am a voting Texan. There are many of us that are pro LEGAL immigration. Walls are expensive and useless. The current policies and laws are getting Americans and Mexicans killed. All that we get is lip service. The CBP is corrupt on this side, the Federales are corrupt on their side. I used to think that a war with Mexico was a bad thing. Not any more. By the way, the Border Patrol has started running recruiting ads in Texas, about 3 per hour during prime time. Too little too late. But I gurantee that Cornyn and his quisling ilk will highlight this as effective. I am one spitting mad Texan.
Vote them out!
The President unfortunately has no intention of "bailing" anything. It's full speed ahead with an amnesty plan that leaves the same question unanswered as it always does. "What do you intend to do after their temporary cards expire?"
He doesn't care about numbers and neither do that bunch of traitors in Congress. They are going to give Bush what he wants because they KNOW there is NOTHING we can do about it. Bush isn't up for reelection so he does NOT care about what we think, and by the time we could "vote the others out" it will be too late. The damage will already be done. They get what they want. Money from the big corporations and Americans get shafted, again!!!
The only way illegal immigration will stop is with aggressive grassroots movements like the Minutemen. We need to be pouring money into that organization because both the Republicans and Democrats will doublespeak the issue like Bush did in his SOTU - again. When the RNC calls me for money I will tell them that all my donations are being reallocated to the Minutemen.
the only way they will be voted out is if a "none of the above" is put on the ballot. There doesn't seem to be much of a difference between the two parties on this issue.
Denying birth citizenship IS a non-starter. We have too many treaties with other countries regarding this. And the fact that it would require the Texas state constitution be amended. I do not trust these clowns in DC or Austin to go in and tamper with constitutions. They can not even uphold the current laws, why trust them to write more crap that they will not enforce?
Manufacturing? -- Nope.
IT? -- Nope.
Construction trades? -- Nope.
Car wash attendant> -- Nope.
Engineering? -- Nope.
College, anyone?
Frist, McCain, Lugar and Specter - perfect examples of the reason why the Republicans have grown out of touch with us, thier constituency. Perfect examples of why a third political party is REQUIRED for the survival of this nation as we once knew it.
?
Hmm...
Dred Scott...changing it is a non-starter...there is too much economically and legally relying on it.
Kelo...I guess since it's now "Stare Decis", you think it's OK for the Government to claim ownership of your home and sell it to someone else!
See, it's been a DELIBERATE misreading of the 14th Amendment that has gotten us here...no Illegal Infiltrator is a citzen of the US, nor are they under "U.S. Jurisdiction"...if they get in trouble, they call the Mexican Consulate, not the US State Dept.!
I don't care how many treaties it upsets, nor do I care what other "difficulties" it causes the damn Ruling Class...they screwed the pooch, they can suffer for it!
I want the Laws obeyed by all, without lawbreakers being rewarded for their lawlessness out of some Political convenience!
And I want the "Tree of Liberty" to get a nice soaking rain!
The Senate is a disgrace. And yes, I mean the Republican controlled Senate.
The House of Lords has spoken.
Dammit. Why can't the Senate consider emigration for once. I'd help pay for the move.
There isn't much of a difference between the two parties on a whole host of issues - illegal invasion being one of them.
Republican leadership still supports affirmative action, it still pays lip service to the right of babies not to be aborted, it still cowers before the defeated Democrats and their minions in the press.
Bush has had a somewhat successful track record on foreign policy, but even there, he comes up short.
Like his father before him, he is taken with the notion of being President of the world instead of President of the U.S.
He screwed up royally in pandering to the Palestinians.
Our efforts in Iraq will bear fruit - the "insurgency" is dying. But the end result of our efforts and sacrifices there appear likely to be another theocratic Islamic state which persecutes religious minorities like Chaldean Christians, and has little or no gratitude towards us, or affection for the west.
While we are fighting and dying to try to bring Democracy to Iraq, the Iranians are building a nuclear bomb to fry us and the Syrians are holding weapons of mass destruction secreted there by Saddam before the invasion, for possible us against us.
We should also be confronting American companies which move out the U.S., relocate their production facilities in Red China - another country with a record of persecuting Christians - and contribute American export dollars towards the growing Red Chinese military machine.
We should be doing something about that lunatic Chavez in Venezuela and his clone in Bolivia.
We should be reaching out to Ukraine and other former Soviet satellites, and even Russia, with economic aid and expertise in an Eastern European Marshall plan. If we can provide them with the know-how and assistance to make and sell products for world consumption, they will be less likely to wind up economic basket cases receptive to neo-Stalinism.
The border issue is the issue which should break the back of the RINOs - but it won't happen if we permit them to continue to operate as though we don't exist.
These criminals in office should be flooded with letter, e-mails and FAXes to let them know exactly what their constituents think about granting asylum to border sneak theives.
And then they should be flushed out of office - one way or the othre - if they don't wise up.
If you do, make sure you let these RINOS know exactly why.
