(Feb. 2) -- TMZ has learned, director Lee Tamahori was scheduled to be arraigned today, on charges that he allegedly solicited an undercover cop while dressed in drag.

Tamahori, whose directing credits include, 'Die Another Day,' 'XXX: State of the Union,' 'Along Came a Spider' and 'The Sopranos,' was arrested in Hollywood on January 8, 2006. According to law enforcement, Tamahori was allegedly dressed in drag, approached an undercover officer who was in his car, entered the vehicle and offered to perform a sex act for money.

Tamahori (the complaint reads "Tamahuri," but TMZ has confirmed it's the same person) was arrested, booked and charged with prostitution and unlawfully loitering with the intent to commit prostitution.

Tamahori arraignment was continued to February 24. Tamahori, who is being prosecuted by the LA City Attorney, is free on $2,000 bail.

We tried reaching Tamahori's lawyer, Mark Geragos, but he was unavailable for comment.

I don't suppose he needed the money, so I guess he just wanted to 'feel like a whore.'

Wouldn't it be ironic if he worked with Eddie Murphy...on either job?

Must have been "researching" for an upcoming movie project.

Yeah, that's the ticket.

Die Another Day is my least favorite Bond movie. I always suspected the director was a cross-dressing man-whore.

Maybe Geragos can get him a cell with Scott Peterson. I bet Scott could use the sex.

I see it coming...the old "I WAS DOING RESEARCH FOR A MOVIE" defense. Why do men dress up as women? Don't they own mirrors. We were at a restaurant the other day and the hostess was a host, if you know what I mean. The ugliest woman I've ever seen and his voice was a man. I mean, do they think they're fooling anyone?? Do they care? I just felt sorry for him...pity and sadness at how utterly unhappy he must be.

LOL! I didn't think it was so bad. Some of it was out there, though.

Ya know, if he really wants to pull this off, he's gonna have to do something about those eyebrows.

Famed??
I mean come on. Who is this guy?? of the movies he has directed that I have seen none of them were particularly good.

Perhaps he wanted to make a buddy film with Eddie Murphy and Danny Bonaduche(??) and this was the only way he could get them interested.

PS I would actually go see a buddy film featuring Eddie and Danny.
